    Bacterile nitrificatoare cresc prin consumul de compui anorganici de azot.

  • Oxidarea amoniacului Nitrificarea n natur este un proces de oxidare n dou etape :a)amoniul (NH4 +) sau amoniacul(NH3) n nitrat (NO3) Prima reacie este de oxidare a amoniului la nitrat realizata de bacteriile "Nitrosomonas". b)A doua reacie este de oxidare a nitratului (NO2), realizata de bacteriile Nitrobacter.

  • Nitrosococcus oceani Impactul Nitrosococcus oceani asupra ecosistemului este eliberarea masiv de oxid de azot atmosfer la finalizarea ciclului de nitrificare. De asemenea, contribuie la meninerea concentraiei de nitrat n ocean.
