DECLARATIE FCCEchipamentul a fost testat si gasit conform cu specificatiile dispozitivelor de Clasa B, respec-

tand Partea 15 din Reglementarile FCC. Aceste specificatii sunt destinate oferirii unei protectii

Va multumim ca ati ales router-ul wireless QA705401WG 54Mbps. Acest router ofera o

solutie dedicata pentru retelele SOHO (Small Office/Home Office). Avand reteaua dvs.

conectata, reteaua locala pe cablu sau wireless poate partaja accesul Internet, fisiere etc.

cu mai multe PC-uri, printr-un singur cont ISP.

Avand tehnologie de transmisie 2x to 3x eXtended RangeTM WLAN, distanta de transmisie

este de 2-3 ori mai mare decat in cazul solutiilor traditionale IEEE 802.11g/b, de pana la

855.36m (testat in China). Distanta de transmitere este marita de 4-9 ori.

Este o solutie facila, bazata pe web, atat in ceea ce priveste instalarea, cat si administrarea.

Chiar daca nu sunteti familiarizati cu router-ele, acest ghid face configurarea router-ului usoara.Inainte de a instala router-ul, consultati in totalitate acest ghid, pentru a cunoaste toate functiile

echipamentului.

Capitolul 2: Introducere

2.1 Prezentarea router-ului

Router-ul wireless QA705401WG 54Mbps cuprinde: switch 4-porturi, firewall, NAT-routersi Wireless AP. Este dedicat solutiilor de retea SOHO (Small Office/Home Office).QA705401WG 54Mbps va va permite sa va conectati wireless la retea mai bine decat oricand,

partajand acces Internet, fisiere etc, usor si sigur.

Pentru securitate deplina, router-ul wireless QA705401WG 54Mbps ofera multiple masuri de

protectie. Poate fi programat sa dezactiveze transmisia SSID, astfel incat numai statiile care

au SSID sa poata fi conectate.Router-ul ofera criptare de siguranta wireless LAN 64/128/152-bit WEP si WPA/WPA2 si

autentificare WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, precum si criptare de siguranta TKIP/AES. Suporta, de

asemenea, tunel VPN pentru transmiterea in siguranta a datelor importante.

Router-ul QA705401WG 54Mbps este conform standardelor IEEE 802.11g/b, astfel incat

rata de transmisie a datelor este de pana la 54Mbps. Are tehnologie de transmisie 2x to 3x eXtended RangeTM WLAN, astfel incat distanta de trasmisie este de 2-3 ori mai mare decat

solutiile IEEE 802.11g/b, pana la o distanta de 855.36m (testat in China). Aria de transmisie

este extinsa de 4-9 ori. Este compatibil cu toate produsele IEEE 802.11g si IEEE 802.11b.

Router-ul54Mbps ofera control flexibil al accesului, astfel incat parintii sau admi-

nistratorii de retea pot stabili regului stricte de restrictionare a accesului pentru copii sau angajati.

Are NAT integrat si server DHCP ce suporta distribuire de adrese IP statice. Suporta, de aseme-

nea, Virtual Server si gazduire DMZ pentru necesitati Port Triggering, administrare de la distanta

si autentificare, astfel incat administratorii de retea pot monitoriza si administra reteaua in timp real.

Router-ul este usor de administrat. Este suportata instalarea rapida si afiseaza mesaje Help usor

de inteles pentru fiecare pas. In acest fel puteti configura usor si rapid si puteti partaja accesul

Internet, fisiere etc.

2.2 Caracteristici

2.3.2 Panoul din spate

Panoul din spate contine urmatoarele elemente (vazut de la stanga la dreapta):

Antena wirelessButon de revenire la parametrii initiali

Exista 2 metode de a reveni la parametrii initiali:1) Folositi functia Factory Defaults din System Tools -> pagina Factory Defaults din utilitarul

router-ului.

2) Folositi butonul de revenire la parametrii initiali: Mai intai, opriti functionarea router-ului. Apasati si tineti

apasat butonul de revenire la parametrii initiali, dupa care repuneti in functiune router-ul, pana cand LED

-urile sistemului se aprind (aprox. 3 secunde). Eliberati butonul si asteptati ca router-ul sa reporneasca.

Nota: Asigurati-va ca router-ul este alimentat inainte sa il reporniti.

Portul WAN RJ45 pt. conectarea router-ului la un modem de cablu, modem DSL sau Ethernet 4 porturi LAN 10/100Mbps RJ45 pentru conectarea router-ului la PC-uri

Priza AC de alimentare: folositi numai adaptorul de alimentare livrat impreuna cu router-ul,

utilizarea unui alt adaptor putend provoca defectarea produsului.

Capitolul 3: Conectarea router-ului

3.1 Cerinte sistem

Broadband Internet Access Service (DSL/Cable/Ethernet) Un modem DSL/Cable cu conector RJ45 (nu este necesar daca va conectati router-ul

la Ethernet) Fiecare PC din LAN necesita un adaptor Ethernet functional si un cablu Ethernet cu

conectori RJ45.

Protocolul TCP/IP trebuie instalat pe fiecare PC.

Browser web, cum ar fi Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 sau mai mult, Netscape Navigator 6.0 sau mai mult.

3.2 Cerinte de mediu pentru instalare

Nu in lumina directa a soarelui sau in vecinatatea surselor de caldura

Sa aiba spatiu suficient, fara alte obiecte puse pe el. Trebuie sa existe minim 2 inchi

(5 cm) de spatiu liber de jur imprejurul router-ului.

3.3 Conectarea router-ului

Inainte de a instala router-ul, trebuie sa va conectati cu succes PC-ul la Internet prin interme-

diul serviciului de banda larga. Daca apare vreo problema, contactati, va rugam, ISP-ul dvs.Dupa aceasta, instalati router-ul facand urmatorii pasi. Nu uitati sa scoateti cablul de alimen-

tare din priza si sa aveti mainile uscate.

1. Opriti functionarea PC-ului (PC-urilor), modemului de cablu/DSL si a router-ului.2. Alegeti o locatie corespunzatoare pentru router. Cel mai bun loc este, de obicei, in centrul

zonei in care vor fi conectate wireless PC-urile. Locatia trebuie sa fie in conformitate cu

cerintele de mediu pentru instalare.

3. Ajustati directia antenei. In mod normal, pozitia verticala este cea corecta.4. Conectati PC-urile si fiecare Switch/Hub din retea la porturile LAN ale router-ului, conform

imaginii 3-1. 5. Conectati modemul DSL/cablu la portul WAN al router-ului, conform imaginii 3-1. 6. Conectati adaptorul AC de alimentare la mufa AC de alimentare a router-ului, iar celalalt

capat conectati-l la priza. Router-ul va incepe automat sa functioneze.7. Puneti in functiune PC-urile si modemul de cablu/DSL.

Capitolul 4: Ghid de instalare rapida

Dupa conectarea router-ului QA705401WG la retea, acesta trebuie configurat. Acest capitol

descrie cum sa configurati functiile de baza ale router-ului. Aceste proceduri va vor lua doar

cateva minute. Puteti accesa Internetul prin intermediul router-ului imediat ce ati incheiat

cu succes configurarea acestuia.

4.1 Configurarea TCP/IP

Adresa IP initiala a router-ului wireless QA705401WG 54Mbps este 192.168.1.1, iar masca

de retea este 255.255.255.0. Aceste valori pot fi vazute din LAN. Ele pot fi schimbate dupa dorinta, dar in acest ghid vom folosi valorile initiale cu titlu de

exemplu.

Conectati PC-urile locale la porturile LAN ale router-ului. Sunt 2 metode pentru configurarea

adresei IP pentru PC-urile dvs.

Configurarea manuala a adresei IP1) Configurati protocolul TCP/IP pentru PC-urile dvs. Daca aveti nevoie de indicatii

referitoare la aceasta, consultati Anexa B: "Configurarea PC-urilor."2) Configurati parametrii retelei. Adresa IP este 192.168.1.xxx ("xxx" reprezinta o valoare

de la 2 la 254), masca de retea este 255.255.255.0, iar Gateway-ul este 192.168.1.1 (adresa IP initiala a router-ului)

Obtinerea automata a unei adrese IP1) Configurati protocolul TCP/IP in modul "Obtain an IP address automatically" de pe

PC-urile dvs. Daca aveti nevoie de indicatii referitoare la aceasta, consultati Anexa B:

"Configurarea PC-urilor."

2) Opriti functionarea router-ului si a PC-urilor. Repuneti apoi in functiune router-ul si

restartati PC-urilor. Serverul DHCP integrat va aloca adrese IP pentru PC-uri.

Acum puteti rula comanda Ping in Command Prompt pentru a verifica conexiunea in

retea dintre PC-uri si router. Exemplele urmatoare sunt pentru Windows 2000 OS.

Deschideti un ecran de comanda si tastati ping 192.168.1.1, apoi apasati Enter.

Daca rezultatul afisat este similar cu cel ilustrat in figura 4-1, conexiunea dintre PC-ul dvs.

si router a fost stabilita.

Daca rezultatul afisat este similar cu cel ilustrat in figura 4-2, inseamna ca PC-ul nu a fost

conectat la router. Va rugam sa verificati urmatorii pasi:

1. Conectarea dintre PC si router este facuta corect?Nota: LED-urile Link/Act ale portului LAN de pe router si LED-urile de pe adaptorul PC-ului

trebuie sa fie aprinse.2. Configurarea TCP/IP pentru PC-ul dvs. este facuta corect?

Nota: Daca adresa IP a router-ului este 192.168.1.1, adresa IP a PC-ului trebuie sa fie

in intervalul 192.168.1.2 ~ 192.168.1.254, iar gateway-ul trebuie sa fie 192.168.1.1

4.2 Ghid de instalare rapida

Cu un utilitar pentru web (Internet Explorer sau Netscape® Navigator), router-ul QA705401WG este usor de configurat si administrat. Utilitarul respectiv poate fi folosit pentru orice versiune de

Windows, Macintosh sau UNIX OS, cu un browser web.

Conectati router-ul tastand http://192.168.1.1 in tcampul adresei din browser-ul web

Dupa un moment, o fereastra de autentificare va aparea, similara celei din Figura 4-4. Introduceti

admin in campurile User Name si Password, folosind in ambele cazuri litere mici. Apasati apoi

butonul OK sau apasati tasta Enter.

Nota: Daca ecranul de mai sus nu apare, inseamna ca browser-ul web folosit a fost programat

sa utilizeze un proxy. Mergeti in meniul Tools>Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings, iar

in ecranul care apare, debifati "Using Proxy" si apasati OK pentru a incheia.

Daca numele de utilizator si parola sunt corecte, puteti configura route-ul folosind browser-ul

web. Faceti click pe link-ul Quick Setup din stanga meniului principal si va aparea ecranul

Quick Setup.

Apasati Next si va aparea pagina "Choose WAN Connection Type", ca in figura 4-6.

Router-ul suporta 3 moduri obisnuite de conectare la Internet. Va rugam sa selectati unul

compatibil cu ISP-ul dvs. Apasati Next pentru a accesa parametrii retelei.

In aceasta pagina, puteti configura urmatorii parametrii wireless:

Wireless Radio - indica atunci cand functia de punct de accesa router-ului este

activata sau dezactivata. Daca este dezactivata, LED-ul WLAN de pe panoul frontal nu

va fi aprins, iar statiile wireless nu vor putea sa acceseze router-ul. Daca este activata,LED-ul WLAN va fi aprins, iar statiile wireless vor putea accesa router-ul.SSID - introduceti o valoare de pana la 32 de caractere. Acelasi SSID trebuie alocat

tuturor dispozitivelor wireless din reteaua dvs. SSID-ul initial este QUBS. Aceasta

valoare este case-sensitive. De exemplu, "QUBS" NU este acelasi lucru cu "qubs".Region - Selectati regiunea dvs. din lista derulanta. Acest camp specifica regiunea in care

functia wireless a router-ului poate fi utilizata. Poate fi ilegal sa folositi functia wireless in

regiuni care nu sunt mentionate in lista.Channel - canalul folosit in acel moment. Acest camp determina ce frecventa sa fie

folosita.Mode - indica modul curent 54Mbps (802.11g), 11Mbps (802.11b). Daca selectati

54Mbps (802.11g), este compatibil cu 11Mbps (802.11b).

Aceste setari sunt numai pentru parametrii wireless de baza. Pentru setari avansate,consultati Sectiunea 5.5: "Wireless."

Nota: Schimbarea setarilor wireless nu va fi aplicata pana cand nu se restarteaza router-ul!Puteti face manual acest lucru. Daca aveti nevoie de instructiuni in aceasta privinta, consultati

Sectiunea 5.11.4: "Repornirea router-ului"

Apasati butonul Next si veti vedea pagina Finish:

Dupa incheierea configurarii tuturor parametrilor de baza ai retelei, apasati butonul Finish pentru

a iesi din Quick Setup.

Capitolul 5: Configurarea router-ului

Aceasta sectiune descrie functiile cheie ale fiecarei pagini web.

5.1 Autentificare (Login)

Dupa ce v-ati autentificat cu succes, puteti configura si administra router-ul. Sunt 10 meniuri

in stanga utilitarului web. Submeniurile vor fi disponibile dupa ce selectati unul din meniurile

principale. Cele 10 meniuri sunt: Status, Quick Setup, Network, Wireless, DHCP, Forwarding, Security, Static Routing, DDNS and System Tools. In dreapta utilitarului

sunt explicatii detaliate si instructiuni pentru pagina respectiva. Pentru a aplica schimbarile pe

care le-ati facut in pagina respectiva, apasati butonul Save.

Mai jos sunt explicatii detaliate pentru functiile cheie ale fiecarei pagini web.

5.2 Status

Pagina Status indica starea si configuratia curenta a router-ului. Toate informatiile sunt

read-only.

1. LAN Acest camp indica setarile curente sau informati despre LAN, inclusiv adresa MAC,adresa IP si masca de retea.

2. Wireless Acest camp informatii de baza sau indica starea pentru functiile wireless, inclusiv WirelessRadio, SSID, Canal, Mod, addresa MAC Wireless si adresa IP.

3. WAN Acesti parametrii se aplica pentru portul WAN al router-ului, inclusiv adresa MAC, adresa IP,masca de retea, Gateway initial, server DNS si tip conexiune WAN.Daca este ales PPPoE ca tip de conexiune WAN, va fi aratat butonul Disconnect cand veti

4. Traffic Statistics In acest camp sunt afisate statisticile de trafic ale the router-ului.

5. System Up Time Indica timpul de functionare a router-ului de la ultima punere in functiune sau repornire.

5.4.1 LAN

Puteti configura parametrii IP ai LAN in pagina ilustrata mai jos.

MAC Address (adresa MAC) - adresa fizica a router-ului, asa cum este vazuta din LAN. Valoarea respectiva poate fi schimbata.

IP Address (adresa IP) - introduceti adresa IP a router-ului dvs. in format cifre si puncte

(initial: 192.168.1.1).Subnet Mask (masca de retea) - un cod adresa care deternmina dimensiunea retelei.In mod normal se foloseste 255.255.255.0 ca masca de retea.

Nota:a. Daca schimbati adresa IP a retelei LAN, trebuie sa folositi noua adresa IP pentru a va

autentifica pe router.b. Daca noua adresa LAN IP pe care ati ales-o nu este in aceeasi subretea, lista de adrese IP

din serverul DHCP nu va fi afectata, pana cand acesta nu este reconfigurat.c. Daca noua adresa LAN IP pe care ati ales-o nu este in aceeasi subretea, serverul virtual

si gazduirea DMZ se va schimba conform noii adrese, in acelasi timp.

5.4.2 WAN

Puteti configura parametrii WAN in pagina ilustrata mai jos.

In primul rand, alegeti tipul de conexiune WAN (Dynamic IP/Static IP/PPPoE/802.1x +Dynamic IP/802.1x + Static IP) la Internet. Tipul preselectat initial este PPPoE. Daca nu

aveti alocati parametrii de autentificare (adresa IP fixa, ID de autentificare, etc), selectati

Dynamic IP. Daca aveti alocata o adresa IP fixa (static IP), selectati Static IP. Daca aveti

alocate un nume de utilizator si o parola, selectati PPPoE. Daca nu stiti ce tip de conexiune

folositi in mod curent, contactati ISP-ul dvs. pentru a obtine informatii corecte.

1. Daca alegeti Dynamic IP, router-ul va va da automat parametrii IP din ISP-ul dvs.

In aceasta pagina vor fi afisati parametrii WAN IP alocati dinamic de ISP-ul dvs, inclusiv

adresa IP , Subnet Mask (masca de retea), Default Gateway (Gateway initial), etc. Apasati butonul Renew pentru a actualiza parametrii IP ai ISP-ului dvs. Apasati butonul

Release pentru a activa parametrii IP.

MTU Size (dimensiune MTU): Valoarea normala MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) pentru majoritatea retelelor Ethernet este de 1500 Bytes. Pentru anumite ISP-uri trebuie

sa reduceti MTU, dar acest lucru este solicitat rar si nu trebuie facut decat daca sunteti

siguri ca este necesar pentru conexiunea dvs. ISP.

Daca ISP-ul dvs. va ofera una sau doua adrese DNS, selectati Use These DNS Servers si introduceti adresa principla si pe cea secundara in campurile corecte. In caz

contrar, serverele DNS vor fi alocate automat de ISP.

Nota: Daca apar erori de tipul ‘Address not found' cand intrati pe un site web, este

posibil ca serverele dvs. DNS sa fie configurate incorect. Trebuie sa contactati ISP-ul dvs.

pentru a obtine adresele serverului DNS.

Get IP with Unicast DHCP: Cateva servere DHCP ale ISP-urilor nu suporta aplicatiile

de transmisie. Daca nu puteti obtine adresa IP in mod normal, puteti alege aceasta

optiune. (In general nu este nevoie sa folositi acesta optiune).

Daca aveti alocate un nume de utilizator si o parola pentru autentificare 802.1x, trebuie

sa selectati 802.1x + Dynamic IP for WAN Connection Type, iar numele de utilizator si

parola vor aparea atunci, precum in figura 5-4a:

User Name - introduceti numele de utilizator pentru autentificare 802.1x furnizat de ISP-ul dvs.

Password - introduceti parola pentru autentificare 802.1x furnizata de ISP-ul dvs.

Apasati butonul Login pentru a initia autentificarea 802.1x. Apasati butonul Logout pentru a incheia autentificarea 802.1x.

2. Daca alegeti Static IP, trebuie sa aveti parametrii IP ficsi furnizati de ISP. Pagina pentru configurarea IP-ului static va aparea, precum in figura 5-5:

Trebuie sa introduceti urmatorii parametrii in campurile de mai jos:

IP Address - introduceti adresa IP furnizata de ISP-ul dvs. in format cifre si puncte.

Subnet Mask - introduceti masca de retea furnizata de ISP-ul dvs. in format cifre si

puncte. In mod obisnuit valoarea este 255.255.255.0. Default Gateway - (optional) Introduceti adresa IP a gateway-ului furnizata de ISP-ul

dvs, in format cifre si puncte.

MTU Size - Valoarea normala MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) pentru majoritatea

retelelor Ethernet este de 1500 Bytes. Pentru anumite ISP-uri trebuie sa reduceti MTU,

dar acest lucru este solicitat rar si nu trebuie facut decat daca sunteti siguri ca este

Daca aveti, de asemenea, alocate un nume de utilizator si o parola pentru autentificare

802.1x, trebuie sa selectati 802.1x + Static IP pentru WAN Connection Type, iar dupa

aceasta va aparea o fereastra unde vi se solicita numele de utilizator si parola (figura 5-5a)

User Name - introduceti numele de utilizator pt. autentificare 802.1x furnizat de ISP-ul dvs.

Password - introduceti parola pt. autentificare 802.1x furnizata de ISP-ul dvs.

Apasati Login pentru a initia autentificarea 802.1x. Apasati Logout pentru a incheia autentificarea 802.1x.

3. Daca alegeti PPPoE, trebuie sa ntroduceti urmatorii parametrii (figura 5-6):

User Name/Password - introduceti numele de utilizator si parola furnizate de ISP-ul dvs.Aceste campuri sunt case-sensitive.

Connect on Demand - puteti configura router-ul sa se deconecteze de la Internet dupa o

anumita perioada de inactivitate (Max Idle Time). in cazul in care conexiunea Internet a fost incheiata datorita inactivitatii, Connect on Demand permite router-ului sa resta-

bileasca automat conexiunea imediat ce incercati sa accesati din nou Internetul. Daca

doriti sa activati Connect on Demand, apasati butonul radio. Daca doriti ca legatura

Internet sa ramana activa permanent, introduceti 0 in campul "Max Idle Time". In caz

contrar, introduceti numarul de minute dupa care doriti ca legatura la Internet sa fie

suspendata.

Atentie: Uneori conexiunea nu poate fi deconectata, desi ati specificat o perioada de timp

in campul "Max Idle Time", deoarece anumite aplicatii continua sa viziteze Internetul, in

fundal.Connect Automatically - permite conectarea automata, dupa ce router-ul a fost deco-

nectat. Daca doriti sa folositi aceasta optiune, apasati butonul radio respectiv.Time-based Connecting - Puteti configura router-ul sa se conecteze sau deconecteze

la un anumit moment. Introduceti momentul de inceput (pt. conectare) in format HH:MM,

si ora de incheiere (pt. deconectare), in format HH:MM, in campurile Period of Time.Nota: Functia Time-based Connecting va fi activata numai dupa configurarea timpului in

sistem, mergand in pagina System Tools > Time.

Connect Manually - puteti configura router-ul sa fie conectat sau deconectat manual.

Dupa o anumita perioada de inactivitate (Max Idle Time), router-ul va suspenda co-

nexiunea la Internetsi nu va mai fi capabil sa restabileasca automat conexiunea atunci

cand incercati sa accesati din nou Internetul. Pentru a folosi aceasa optiune, apasati bu-

tonul radio corespunzator. Daca doriti sa ramana activa in permanenta conexiunea Internet,introduceti "0" in campul Max Idle Time. In caz contrar, introduceti perioada pentru care

doriti sa ramana activa conexiunea Internet. Atentie: Uneori conexiunea poate fi suspendata desi ati specificat o perioada de timp

in campul "Max Idle Time", deoarece anumite aplicatii continua sa viziteze Internetul, in

fundal.

Apasati butonul Connect pentru a va conecta imediat sau apasati butonul Disconnectpentru a va deconecta imediat.

Apasati butonul Advanced Settings pentru a configura optiunile avansate, iar pagina

ilustrata in figura 5-7 va aparea:

Packet MTU (pachet MTU) - Dimensiunea MTU este 1492 bytes, valoare care este buna,

in mod normal. Pentru anumite ISP-uri trebuie sa modificati MTU, dar acest lucru nu trebuie

facut decat daca sunteti siguri ca este necesar pentru conxiunea dvs. ISP.

Service Name/AC Name - Numele serviciului si numele AC (Access Concentrator). Nu

trebuie modificate decat daca sunteti siguri ca sunt necesare pentru conxiunea dvs. ISP.

ISP Specified IP Address - Daca stiti ca ISP-ul nu transmite automat adresa dvs. IP catre

router in timpul autentificarii, bifati “Use the IP Address specified by ISP” si introduceti

adresa IP furnizata de ISP-ul dvs, in format cifre si puncte.

Detect Online Interval - Valoarea initiala este 0, dar dvs. puteti introduce o valoare intre

0 si 120. Router-ul va detecta concentratorul de acces online la fiecare interval, in

secunde. Daca valoarea este 0, inseamna ca router-ul nu detecteaza nimic.

DNS IP address - Daca stiti ca ISP-ul nu transmite automat adresel dvs. DNS catre

router in timpul autentificarii, bifati “Use the following DNS servers” si introduceti

adresa IP furnizata de serverul principal DNS al ISP-ului dvs, in format cifre si puncte.

Daca este disponibila si o adresa secundara DNS, introduceti-o si pe aceasta.

Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva modificarile.

5.4.3 Clona MAC (MAC Clone)

In aceasta pagina puteti configura adresa MAC a portului WAN (figura 5-8):

Unele ISP-uri solicita inregistrarea adresei MAC a adaptorului care este conectat la modemul

de cablu, DSL sau Ethernet in timpul instalarii. In general, nu este nevoie sa schimbati nimic

nimic.

WAN MAC Address - Acest camp afiseaza adresa MAC curenta a portului WAN. Daca

ISP-ul va solicita sa inregistrati adresa MAC, introduceti adresa MAC corecta in acest

camp. Formatul pentru adresa MAC este XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X este o cifra hexade-

cimala.

Your PC's MAC Address - Acest camp afiseaza adresa MAC a PC-ului care administreaza

router-ul. Daca este solicitata adresa MAC, puteti apasa butonul Clone MAC Address

si aceasta adresa MAC va completa campul WAN MAC Address.

Selectati Restore Factory MAC pentru a restaura adresa MAC a portului WAN la valoarea

initiala.

Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva modificarile.

Nota:1) Numai PC-urile din reteaua dvs. LAN pot utiliza fuctia MAC Address Clone.2) Daca selectati butonul Save, router-ul va va solicita restartarea.

in regiuni care nu sunt mentionate in lista. Daca tara sau regiunea dvs. nu este listata,

contactati autoritatile locale pentru asistenta.

Channel - Acest camp determina ce frecventa sa fie folosita. Nu este necesara

schimbarea canalului wireless decat daca semnalati interferente cu alte puncte de

acces din vecinatate.Mod - Selectati modul wireless dorit. Optiunile sunt:

54Mbps (802.11g) - pot fi conectate la router atat statiile wireless 802.11g, cat si

cele 802.11b .11Mbps (802.11b) - numai statiile wireless 802.11b pot fi conectate la router.

Nota: Optiunea preselectata este "54Mbps (802.11g)", ceea ce permite atat statiilor

wireless 802.11g, cat si 802.11b sa se conecteze la router.

Enable Wireless Router Radio - Functia radio wireless a acestui router poate fi activata sau dezactivata pentru a permite accesul statiilor wireless. Daca este activata,statiile vor putea accesa router-ul, iar daca este dezactivata, statiile nu vo putea

accesa router-ul.

Enable SSID Broadcast - Daca bifati Enable SSID Broadcast, SSID-ul router-ului

wireless va transmite numele sau (SSID) in eter.Enable Wireless Security – Functia de securitate wireless poate fi activata sau

dezactivata. Daca este dezactivata, statiile wireless se pot conecta la router fara

criptare. Este recomandabil sa alegeti optiunea de criptare a retelei dvs. wireless.

Parametrii de criptare sunt descrisi mai jos.

Authentication Type - Puteti selecta unul din urmatoarele tipuri de autentificare:WEP - Autentificare tip WEP, bazat pe autentificari 802.11.WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK - Autentificare tip WPA/WPA2 bazat pe cheie

pre-partajata.

WPA /WPA2 - Autentificare tip WPA/WPA2 bazat pe server Radius.

Authentication Option - Puteti selecta una dintre optiunile urmatoare de autentificare:

Cand selectati WEP ca tip de autentificare, puteti selecta urmatoarele optiuni de

autentificare:

Automatic - Tip de autentificare automata "Shared Key" (cheie partajata) sau "Open

System" (sistem deschis) bazat pe solicitarea statiei wireless.Shared Key - Autentificare 802.11 Shared Key (cheie partajata).Open System - Autentificare 802.11 Open System (sistem deschis).Cand selectati WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK ca tip de autentificare, puteti selecta Automatic,WPA –PSK sau WPA2-PSK ca optiuni de autentificare.Cand selectati WPA/WPA2 ca tip de autentificare, puteti selecta Automatic, WPAsau WPA2 ca optiuni de autentificare.

WEP Key Format - Puteti selecta format ASCII sau Hexadecimal.. Formatul ASCII consta

in orice combinatie de caractere, cu lungimea specificata.

Formatul hexadecimal consta in orice combinatie de caractere hexadecimale (0-9, a-f, A-F), cu lungimea specificata.

WEP Key settings - Puteti alege care dintre cele 4 chei sa fie folosite si introduceti

informatia despre cheia WEP potrivita pt. reteaua dvs. in butonul radio corespunzator.Aceste valori trebuie sa fie identice pe toate statiile wireless din reteaua dvs.

Key Type - Puteti selecta lungimea cheii WEP (64-bit/ 128-biti/ 152-bit) pentru criptare.

"Disabled" inseamna ca acea cheie WEP introdusa nu este valida.Pentru criptare 64-biti - Puteti introduce 10 caractere hexadecimale (orice combinatie

de 0-9, a-f, A-F, cheie zero nu este permisa) sau 5 caractere ASCII. Pentru criptare 128-biti - Puteti introduce 26 caractere hexadecimale (orice com-

binatie de 0-9, a-f, A-F, cheie zero nu este permisa) sau 13 caractere ASCII.Pentru criptare 152-biti - Puteti introduce 32 caractere hexadecimale (orice com-

binatie de 0-9, a-f, A-F, cheie zero nu este permisa) sau 16 caractere ASCII.

Encryption - Cand selectati WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK sau WPA/WPA2 ca tip de autentificare,

puteti selecta fie Automatic, TKIP sau AES ca si criptari.

WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK Passphrase - Puteti introduce un cod WPA sau WPA2 cu lungime

intre 8 si 63 caractere.Group Key Update Period - Specificati un interval de timp (in secunde) pentru actualizarea

grupului cheie. Valoarea poate fi fie 0 sec, fie de la 30 in sus. Intervalul 1-29 sec. nu poate fi

folosit. Introduceti 0 pentru a dezactiva actualizarea.

Radius Server IP - Introduceti adresa IP a serverului Radius.

5.5.2 Filtrare MAC

Filtrarea MAC Wireless pentru retelele wireless poate fi setata din pagina de mai jos (figura 5-11):

Functia de filtrare a adreselor MAC Wireless va permite sa controlati statiile wireless ce

acceseaza router-ul, in functie de adresele MAC ale statiilor.MAC Address - Adresa MAC a statiei wireless spe care doriti sa o accesati.Description - O descriere simpla a statiei wireless.Privilege - "Allow" inseamna ca se permite accesul statiei la router. "Deny" inseamna

ca statiei respective ii este interzis accesul la router. 64-bit sau 128-bit sau 152-bitinseamna alocarea unei chei unice WEP pentru acces la router.WEP Key - Specificati o cheie unica WEP (in format hexadecimal) pt. acces la router. Status - Starea acestei functii, fie Enabled, fie Disabled.

Pentru a dezactiva functia de filtrare a adreselor MAC Wireless, pastrati optiunea initiala,Disable.Pentru a configura o intrare, selectati Enable si urmati instructiunile de mai jos:

Mai intai, trebuie sa decideti daca statiile nementionate pot sau nu sa acceseze router-ul.

Daca doriti ca aceste statii sa poata accesa routr-ul, selectati butonul radio "Allow the

stations not specified by any enabled entries in the list to access". In caz contrar,

selectati butonul radio "Deny the stations not specified by any enabled entries in the

Pentru a adauga sau modifica o intrare, urmati instructiunile de mai jos:

1. Introduceti adresa MAC corespunzatoare in campul MAC Address. Formatul adresei

MAC este XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X este orice cifra hexadecimala). De exemplu:00-0A-EB-B0-00-0B.

2. Introduceti o descriere simpla a statiei wireless in campul Description. De exemplu:

"Wireless station A".3. Privilege - Selectati privilegiile pentru aceasta intrare, unul dintre Allow / Deny / 64-bit /

128-bit/152-bit.4. WEP Key - Daca selectati 64-bit, 128-bit sau 152-bit in campul Privilege, introduceti

orice combinatie de caratere hexadecimale (0-9, a-f, A-F), de lungimea specificata. De

exemplu: 2F34D20BE2. 5. Status - Selectati Enabled sau Disabled pentru aceasta intrare, in lista derulanta Status.6. Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva aceasta intrare.

Pentru a adauga intrari suplimentare, repetati pasii 1-6. Nota: Cand este selectata optiunea 64-bit sau 128-bit sau 152-bit, cheia WEP va fi activata.

Pentru a modifica sau sterge o intrare existenta:1. Selectati butonul Edit sau Delete in coloana Modify din tabelul MAC Address Filtering.

2. Introduceti valoarea dorita in pagina Add or Modify Wireless MAC Address Filteringentry si apasati butonul Save.

Puteti apasa butonul Enable All pentru a face efective toate intrarile si Disable All pt. a

dezactiva toate intrarile. Pentru a sterge toate intrarile, selectati butonul Delete All.

Apasati butonul Next pentru a trece la pagina urmatoare si butonul Previous pentru a reveni la

pagina anterioara.

De exemplu: Daca doriti ca statia A cu adresa MAC 00-0A-EB-00-07-BE sa poata accesa

router-ul, statia B cu adresa MAC 00-0A-EB-00-07-5F sa nu il poata accesa, iar statia C

cu adresa MAC 00-0A-EB-00-07-8A sa il poata accesa cand cheia sa WEP este 2F34D20BE2E

54B326C5476586A, in timp ce alte statii sa nu poata accesa router-ul, trebuie sa configurati

lista Wireless MAC Address Filtering facand pasii urmatori:

derulanta Privilege si selectati Enabled in lista derulanta Status. Apasati butonul Savesi butonul Return.

6. Apasati butonul Add New... si introduceti adresa MAC 00-0A-EB-00-07-8A in campul

MAC Address, introduceti statia C in campul Description, selectati 128-bit in lista deru-

lanta Privilege, introduceti 2F34D20BE2E54B326C5476586A in campul WEP Keysi selectati Enabled in lista derulanta Status Apasati butonul Save si butonul Return.

Regulile de filtrare pe care le-ati configurat trebuie sa fie similare cu cele de mai jos:

Nota:a) Daca selectati butonul radio "Allow the stations not specified by any enabled

entries in the list to access" pentru Filtering Rules, statia B tot nu va putea accesa

router-ul. Totusi, alte statii care nu sunt pe lista vor putea accesa router-ul.

b) Daca activati functia si selectati "Deny the stations not specified by any enabledentries in the list to access" pentru Filtering Rules si daca nu exista intrari active in

lista, nici o statie wireless nu poate accesa router-ul.

5.5.3 Statistici Wireless

Aceasta pagina indica MAC Address (adresa MAC), Current Status (stare curenta), ReceivedPackets (pachete primite) si Sent Packets (pachete trimise) pt. fiecare statie conectata.

Nota: Aceasta pagina va fi actualizata automat la fiecare 5 secunde.

5.6 DHCP

Sunt 3 submeniuri in meniul DHCP (indicate in figura 5-14): DHCP Settings, DHCP Clients List si Address Reservation. Selectati oricare dintre aceste submeniuri si veti putea configura functia

respectiva. Explicatii detaliate pentru fiecare submeniu in parte sunt oferite mai jos.

5.6.1 Parametrii DHCP

Router-ul este configurat initial ca server DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) care

furnizeaza configuratia TCP/IP pentru toate PC-urile conectate la router prin LAN.

Serverul DHCP poate fi configurat din pagina urmatoare (figura 5-15):

DHCP Server - Activeaza sau Dezactiveaza serverul DHCP. Daca dezactivatiserverul, trebuie sa aveti un alt server DHCP in retea sau trebuie sa configurati manual

computerul

Start IP Address - Acest camp specifica prima adresa din lista de adrese IP.

192.168.1.100 este adresa initiala de start.End IP Address - Acest camp specifica ultima adresa din lista de adrese IP.

192.168.1.199 este adresa initiala de final.

Address Lease Time - Este perioada de timp in care este permis accesul la router al

unei retele client cu adresa IP dinamica curenta.Introduceti perioada de timp, in minute, iar utilizatorul va "inchiria" aceasta adresa IP dinamica. Intervalul de timp este 1 ~ 2880 minute. Valoarea preselectata intial este 120 minute.Default Gateway - (Optional.) Sugestie de introducere a adresei IP a portului LAN al

router-ului. Valoarea initiala este 192.168.1.1 Default Domain - (Optional.) Introducere a numelui domeniului retelei dvs.Primary DNS - (Optional.) Introducere a adresei IP DNS furnizata de ISP-ul dvs.Eventual, consultati ISP-ul.Secondary DNS - (Optional.) Introducere a adresei IP a unui alt server DNS, daca

ISP-ul va furnizeaza 2 servere DNS.

Nota: Pentru a folosi functia de server DHCP a router-ului, trebuie sa configurati toate PC-urile

din LAN in modul "Obtain an IP Address automatically". Aceasta functie va fi activata dupa

restartarea router-ului.

5.6.2 Lista de clienti DHCP

Aceasta pagina indica Client Name, MAC Address, Assigned IP si Lease Time pentru fiecare

client DHCP atasat la router (figura 5-16):

Index - Indexul clientului DHCPClient Name - Numele clientului DHCPMAC Address - Adresa MAC pentru clientul DHCPAssigned IP - Adresa IP alocata de router clientului DHCPLease Time - Timpul inchiriat unui client DHCP. Inainte de terminarea timpului, clientul

DHCP va cere automat prelungirea inchirierii.

Nu puteti schimba nici o valoare pe aceasta pagina. Pentru a actualiza aceasta pagina si afisa

dispozitivele atasate in acel moment, apasati butonul Refresh.

5.6.3 Rezervare adresa

Cand specificati o adresa IP rezervata pentru un PC din LAN, acel PC va primi intotdeauna

aceeasi adresa IP, de fiecare data cand va accesa serverul DHCP. Adresele IP rezervate

vor fi alocate serverelor care solicita configurari IP permanente. Aceasta pagina este folosita

pentru rezervarea adreselor (figura 5-17).

MAC Address - Adresa MAC a PC-ului pentru care doriti sa rezervati adresa IP.

Assigned IP Address - Adresa IP rezervata de router.

Pentru a rezerva adrese IP:1. Introduceti adresa MAC (Formatul adresei MAC este "XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX", iar

al adresei IP este in format cifre si puncte) a computerului pe care doriti sa-l adaugati.2. Apasati butonul Save cand ati incheiat.

Pentru a modifica o adresa IP rezervata:1. Selectati adresa rezervata dorita si modificati-o. Daca doriti sa stergeti adresa respectiva,

stergeti informatiile din toate campurile adresei respective.2. Apasati butonul Save cand ati incheiat.

Pentru a sterge toate adresele IP rezervate:1. Apasati butonul Clear All.2. Apasati butonul Save cand ati incheiat.

Apasati butonul Next pentru a trece la pagina urmatoare sau butonul Previous pentru a reveni

la pagina anterioara.

5.7 Transmiterea

Sunt 4 submeniuri in meniul Forwarding (figura 5-18): Virtual Servers, Port Triggering, DMZsi UPnP. Selectati oricare dintre aceste submeniuri si veti putea configura functia respectiva.

Explicatii detaliate pentru fiecare submeniu in parte sunt oferite mai jos.

5.7.1 Servere virtuale

Serverele virtuale sunt utilizate pentru configurarea service-ului publice in LAN-ul dvs, cum ar fi

DNS, Email si FTP. Un server virtual este definit ca un port de service si toate cerintele de la

Internet pentu\ru acest port vor fi redirectionate la computerul specificat de serverul IP. Orice PC care a fost folosit ca server virtual trebuie sa aiba o adresa IP statica sau rezervata,

deoarece adresa sa IP se poate schimba cand este folosita functia DHCP. Puteti configura

serverele virtuale din pagina ilustrata mai jos (figura 5-19):

Service Port - Numarul porturilor externe. Puteti introduce un port de service sau o gamade porturi de service (formatul este XXX – YYY, XXX este portul Start, YYY este portul

End).IP Address - Adresa IP a PC-ului ce ruleaza aplicatia de service

Protocol - Protocolul folosit pentru aceasta aplicatie, TCP, UDP sau All (toate protocoalele

suportate de router). Enable - Bifarea optiunii Enable permite introducerea serverului virtual. Common Service Port - Unele servicii comune sunt deja listate in lista derulanta.

Pentru a configura introducerea unui server virtual:1. Selectati serviciul pe care doriti sa-l folositi din lista "Common Service Port", ID-ul pe care

doriti sa-l utilizati si selectati butonul Copy. Daca lista Common Service Port nu are

serviciul pe care doriti sa-l utilizati, introduceti numele portului de service sau gama de

porturi de service in campul Service Port.2. Introduceti adresa IP a computerului in campul Server IP Address.3. Selectati protocolul folosit pentru aplicatie, TCP, UDP sau All.4. Bifati Enable pentru a activa serverul virtual. 5. Apasati butonul Save.

Nota: Este posibil sa aveti un computer sau server care sa aiba mai multe tipuri de servicii.

In acest caz, selectati alt serviciu si introduceti aceeasi adresa IP pentru acel computer sau

server.

Pentru a modifica o inregistrare de service:1. Selectati inregistrarea pe care doriti sa o modificati.2. Modificati informati din campul Service Port, ferestrele IP Address si lista derulanta

Protocol.3. Apasati butonul Save.

Pentru a sterge o inregistrare de service: 1. Stergeti toate informatiile despre inregistrarea respctiva, cu exceptia listei Protocol.2. Apasati butonul Save.

Pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile de service:1. Apasati butonul Clear All.2. Apasati butonul Save.

Apasati butonul Next pentru a trece la pagina urmatoare sau butonul Previous pentru a reveni

la pagina anterioara.

Nota: Daca setati serverul virtual al portului de service ca 80, trebuie sa setati si portul de administrare web din pagina Security –> Remote Management ca fiind orice alta valoare in

afara de 80, cum ar fi 8080. In caz contrar, ar putea aparea un conflict.

5.7.2 Port Triggering (declansare port)

Unele aplicatii solicita conexiuni multiple, cum ar fi jocuri Internet, video conferinte, telefonie prin

Internet si asa mai departe. Aceste aplicatii nu pot functiona cu un simplu router NAT.

Port Triggering este folosit pentru unele dintre aceste aplicatii care pot functiona cu un router NAT.

Puteti configura Port Triggering din pagina ilustrata in figura 5-20:

Odata configurat, operarea se face in modul urmator:

1. O gazda locala realizeza o conexiune externa folosind un numar de port de destinatie

definit in campul Trigger Port. 2. Router-ul inregistreaza conexiunea, deschide portul de primire sau porturile asociate

acestei inregistrari in tabelul the Port Triggering si le asociaza cu o gazda locala. 3. Cand este cazul, gazda externa va fi capabila sa se conecteze la gazda folosind

unul dintre porturile definite in campul Incoming Ports.

Trigger Port - Portul pentru traficul extern. O conexiune externa ce foloseste acest port

va declansa aceasta regula. Trigger Protocol - Protocolul folosit pentru porturile Trigger, fie TCP, UDP sau All (toate

protocoalele suportate de router). Incoming Ports Range - Portul sau gama de porturi folosite de sistem de la distanta

cand se raspunde unei cereri externe. Raspunsul folosind unul din aceste porturi va fi

transmis catre PC-ul care a declansat aceasta regula. Puteti introduce cel mult 5 grupe

de porturi (sau sectiune de port). Fiecare grup de porturi trebuie sa fie separat prin ",". De exemplu, 2000-2038, 2050-2051, 2085, 3010-3030. Incoming Protocol - Protocolul folosit pentru gama de porturi de intrare, TCP, UDP

sau ALL (toatel protocoalele suportate de router).

Enable - Bifa Enable permite portului transmisia pentru aplicatia respectiva. Common Applications - Unele aplicatii des utilizate, introduse deja in lista derulanta.

Pentru a adauga o noua regula, introduceti urmatoarele date in ecranul Port Triggering. 1. Introduceti un numar de port folosit de aplicatie cand genereaza o solicitare externa.

2. Selectati protocolul folosit de portul Trigger din lista derulanta (TCP, UDP sau All)

3. Introduceti numerele gamei de porturi folosite de sistem de la distanta cand raspunde

unei solicitari a PC-ului.

4. Selectati protocolul folosit pentru gama de porturi de intrare din lista derulanta (TCP,

UDP sau All).5. Bifati Enable pentru activare.6. Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva noua regula.

In lista Popular Application sunt multe aplicatii folosite in mod curent. Puteti selecta una

dintre ele si ID-ul, dupa care apasati Copy, iar aplicatia va trece in portul Trigger, gamade porturi de intrare si bifati Enable. Are acelasi efect ca si adaugarea unei noi reguli.

Modificarea unei reguli existente: 1. Editati inregistrarea conform dorintei dvs.2. Apasati butonul Save.

Stergerea unei reguli existente: 1. Stergeti intregul continut al campului Trigger Port, campului Open Port si debifati

Enable.

2. Apasati butonul Save.

Stergerea tuturor regulilor: 1. Apasati butonul Clear All. 2. Apasati butonul Save.

Nota:1. Cand conexiunea declansatoare este activata, porturile de deschidere corespunzatoare

2. Fiecare regula poate fi utilizata numai de catre o singura gazda din LAN, pe rand. Conectarea altelor gazde din LAN va fi refuzata.

3. Porturile de intrare nu se pot suprapune.

5.7.3 DMZ

Functia "gazda DMZ" permite unei gazde locale sa fie expuse pe Internet cu un anumit scop,

cum ar fi jocuri pe Internet sau videoconferinta. Gazda DMZ transmite tuturor porturilor in

acelasi timp. Fiecare PC catre al carui port s-a trasmis trebuie sa aiba functia de client DHCP

dezactivata si trebuie sa aiba o noua adresa IP statica alocata, intrucat adresa sa IP se poate

schimba cand foloseste functia DHCP. Puteti configura gazda DMZ din pagina ilustrata in

figura 5-21:

Nota: Dupa ce a ati configurat gazda DMZ, firewall-ul asociat acestei gazde nu va mai functiona.

5.7.4 UPnP

Functia "Universal Plug and Play" (UPnP) permite dispozitivelor, cum ar fi computere pt. Internet sa acceseze resursele gazdei locale sau alte dispozitive, in functie de necesitati. Dispozitivele

UPnP pot fi detectate automat de aplicatia de service UPnP a LAN-ului. Puteti configura UPnP

din pagina ilustrata in figura 5-22:

Enable UPnP - UPnP poate fi activat sau dezactivat selectand butonul Enable sau

Disable. Cum aceasta permisiune prezinta un risc pentru securitate, functia este in mod

obisnuit dezactivata. Current UPnP Settings Table - acest tabel afiseaza informatia curenta legata de UPnP.

App Description – descrierea furnizata de aplicatie la solicitarea UPnP.

External Port - portul extern deschis de router pentru aplicatie.

Protocol - tipul de protocol deschis

Internal Port - portul intern, deschis de router pentru gazda locala.

IP Address - dispozitivul UPnP care acceseaza in momentul respectiv router-ul. Status - fie activat, fie dezactivat, “Enabled” inseamna ca acel port este inca activ.

In caz contrar, portul este inactiv.

Apasati Refresh pentru a actualiza lista setarilor curente UPnP.

5.8 Securitate

Sunt 6 submeniuri in meniul Security (figura 5-23): Firewall, IP Adress Filtering, DomainFiltering, MAC Filtering, Remote Management si Advanced Security. Selectati oricare

dintre aceste submeniuri si veti putea configura functia corespunzatoare. Explicatii detaliate

pentru fiecare submeniu in parte sunt oferite mai jos.

5.8.1 Firewall

Folosind pagina Firewall (figura 5-24), puteti activa sau dezactiva firewall-ul. Optiunea pre-

selectata pentru comutatorul general firwall este "Dezactivat". Daca acest comutator este

dezactivat, chiar daca IP Address Filtering, DNS Filtering si MAC Filtering sunt activate, configurarile lor sunt inoperabile.

Enable Firewall - comutatorul general firewall poate fi ON sau OFF (activat sau dezactivat).Enable IP Address Filtering - functia "IP Address Filtering" este activata sau dezac-

tivata. Sunt 2 reguli initiale de filtrare a functiei "IP Address Filtering": Allow (permis) sau

Deny (interzis) pentru trecerea prin router. Enable Domain Filtering - functia "Domain Filtering" este activata sau dezactivata.

Enable MAC Filtering - functia "MAC Address Filtering" este activata sau dezactivata.

Puteti selecta regulile initiale de filtrare pentru adresele MAC Address: Allow (permis) sau

Deny (interzis) pentru accesarea router-ului.

5.8.2 Filtrarea adreselor IP

Functia de filtrare a adreselor IP va permite sa controlati accesul la Internet al anumitor utilizatori

din retea, pe baza adreselor lor IP. Filtrarea adreselor IP poate fi configurata din pagina ilustrata

in figura 5-25:

Pentru a dezactiva functia de filtrare a adreselor IP, pastrati optiunea preselectata, Disabled. Pentru a configura o noua inregistrare IP Address Filtering, selectati "Enable Firewall" si "EnableIP Address Filtering" din pagina Firewall si apasati butonul "Add New…". Pagina " Add or Modifyan IP Address Filtering entry " va aparea (figura 5-26):

Pentru a crea sau modifica o inregistrare IP Address Filtering, urmati instructiunile de mai jos: 1. Effective Time - introduceti ora in format HHMM, indicand ora la care inregistrarea sa

fie activata. De exemplu, 0803 - 1705, iar inregistrarea va fi activa de la 08:03 la 17:05.

2. LAN IP Address - introduceti o adresa IP LAN sau o serie de adrese IP LAN in acest camp,

in format puncte si zecimale. De exemplu, 192.168.1.20 - 192.168.1.30.

Pastrati campul deschis, ceea ce inseamna ca toate adresele IP LAN trebuie introduse in camp.

3. LAN Port - introduceti un port sau o serie de porturi LAN in acest camp. De exemplu, 1030 - 2000.

Pastrati campul deschis, ceea ce inseamna ca toate porturile LAN trebuie introduse in camp.

4. WAN IP Address - introduceti o adresa IP WAN sau o serie de adrese IP LAN in acest

camp, in format puncte si zecimale. De exemplu, 61.145.238.6 – 61.145.238.47. Pastrati campul deschis, ceea ce inseamna ca toate adresele IP LAN trebuie introduse in

camp.

5. WAN Port - introduceti un port sau o serie de porturi WAN in acest camp. De exemplu, 25– 110. Pastrati campul deschis, ceea ce inseamna ca toate porturile WAN trebuie introduse in camp.

6. Protocol - selectati ce protocol sa fie folosit (TCP, UDP sau All (toate protocoalele suportate de router).

7. Pass - selectati fie Allow, fie Deny prin router. 8. Status - selectati Enabled sau Disabled pentru aceasta inregistrare in lista derulanta Status.

9. Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva aceasta inregistrare. Pentru a adauga inregistrari suplimentare, repetati pasii 1-9. Cand ati incheiat, apasati butonul Return pentru a reveni la pagina IP Address Filtering.

Pentru a modifica sau sterge o inregistrare existenta: 1. Selectati inregistrarea respectiva din tabel. 2. Apasati Modify sau Delete in coloana Modify.

Apasati butonul Enable All pentru a activa toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Disabled All pentru a dezactiva toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Delete All pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile.

Puteti schimba ordinea inregistrarilor, dupa dorinta. Introduceti numarul ID in prima casuta pe

care doriti sa o mutati si celalalt numar ID number in casuta secundara, dupa care apasati butonul

Move pentru a schimba ordinea inregistrarilor.

Apasati butonul Next pentru a trece la pagina urmatoare sau butonul Previous pentru a reveni la

pagina anterioara.

Exemplu: Daca doriti sa blocati e-mail-urile primite si trimise de o adresa IP 192.168.1.7

din reteaua dvs. locala si sa faceti PC-ul cu adresa IP 192.168.1.8 incapabil sa viziteze website-ul

cu adresa IP 202.96.134.12, in timp ce celelalte PC-uri sa nu aiba limite. Trebuie sa specificati urmatoarea lista de filtrare adrese IP:

5.8.3 Filtrare domenii

Pagina Domain Filtering (figura 5-27) permite controlul accesului la anumite website-uri, prin

specificarea domeniilor acestora sau cuvinte-cheie.

Inaintea adaugarii unei inregistrari pentru filtrare de domenii, trebuie sa verificati ca "Enable Firewall" si "Enable Domain Filtering" au fost selectate in pagina Firewall. Pentru a adauga

o inregistrare pentru filtrare, apasati butonul "Add New…". Va aparea pagina " Add or Modify a Domain Filtering entry " (figura 5-28):

Pentru a modifica sau sterge o inregistrare existenta:

1. Selectati inregistrarea respectiva din tabel.

2. Selectati Modify sau Delete in coloana Edit.

Apasati butonul Enabled All pentru a activa toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Disabled All pentru a dezactiva toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Delete All pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile.

De exemplu, daca doriti sa blocati accesul PC-urilor din LAN la website-urilor www.xxyy.com.cn,

www.aabbcc.com si website-urile cu terminatia .net de pe Internet, in timp ce pentru alte

website-uri sa nu existe limite, trebuie sa specificati urmatoarea lista de filtrare domenii:

5.8.4 Filtrare MAC

Ca si in pagina "IP Address Filtering", pagina "MAC Address Filtering" (figura 5-29) permite

controlul accesului utilizatorilor din reteaua dvs. la Internet pe baza adreselor lor MAC.

Inainte de configurarea filtrarii inregistrarilor MAC, trebuie sa va asigurati ca "Enable Firewall" si "Enable MAC Filtering" au fost selectate in pagina Firewall. Pentru a adauga o inregistrare

pentru filtrarea de adrese MAC, apasati butonul "Add New…". Va aparea pagina " Add or Modify a MAC Address Filtering entry" (figura 5-30):

Pentru a adauga sau modifica o inregistrare pentru filtrare MAC, urmati instructiunile de mai jos: 1. Introduceti adresa MAC corespunzatoare in campul MAC Address. Formatul adresei

MAC este XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X este o cifra hexadecimala). De exemplu: 00-0E-AE-B0-00-0B.

2. Introduceti descrierea PC-ului in campul Description. De exemplu: John’s PC. 3. Status - Selectati Enabled sau Disabled pentru aceasta inregistrare in lista Status. 4. Apasati butonul Save pentru a salva inregistrarea. Pentru a adauga inregistrari suplimentare, repetati pasii 1-4.

Cand ati incheiat, apasati butonul Return pentru a reveni la pagina MAC Address Filtering.

Pentru a modifica sau sterge o inregistrare existenta:

1. Selectati inregistrarea respectiva din tabel.

2. Selectati Modify sau Delete in coloana Edit.

Apasati butonul Enable All pentru a activa toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Disabled All pentru a dezactiva toate inregistrarile.

Apasati butonul Delete All pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile.

Puteti configura functia Remote Management (administrare de la distanta) din pagina ilustrata in

figura 5-31. Aceasta functie va permite sa administrati router-ul dintr-o locatie diferita, prin Internet.

Web Management Port- Accesul la web al browser-ului foloseste standardul HTTP,portul service 80. Numarul initial al portului pentru administrarea de la distanta a router

-ului este 80. Pentru securitate sporita, puteti schimba interfata web pentru administrare

de la distanta cu un alt port, introducand numarul acestuia in casuta furnizata. Alegeti un

numar intre 1024 si 65534, dar nu folositi acest numar pentru nici un alt port comun de service. Remote Management IP Address - Aceasta este adresa curenta pe care o veti folosi

pentru accesarea router-ului prin Internet. Adresa IP initiala este 0.0.0.0. Asta inseamna

ca aceasta functie este dezactivata. Pentru a activa aceasta functie, schimbati adresa IP

initiala cu alta adresa IP.

Pentru a accesa router-ul, introduceti adresa IP WAN a router-ului in adresa browser-ului (IE)

sau in campul Location (in Navigator), urmata de o coloana si de portul numarului personalizat.

De exemplu, daca adresa WAN a router-ului este 202.96.12.8 si dvs, folositi portul cu numarul

8080, introduceti in browser: http://202.96.12.8:8080. Vi se va cere parola router-ului.

Dupa ce ati introdus cu succes parola, veti putea accesa utilitatile bazate pe web ale router-ului.

Nota: Asigurati-va ca schimbati parola initiala a router-ului cu o parola mai sigura.

5.8.6 Securitate avansata

Folosind pagina Advanced Security (figura 5-32), puteti proteja router-ul de atacurile TCP-SYN

Flood, UDP Flood si ICMP-Flood din LAN.

Packets Statistic interval (5 ~ 60) - Valoarea preselectata este 10. Selectati o valoare

intre 5 si 60 secunde din lista derulanta. Valoarea Packets Statistic interval indica

sectiunea de timp pentru pachetele statistice. Rezultatul statisticii folosite pentru analiza

de SYN Flood, UDP Flood si ICMP-Flood.DoS protection -Enable (activeaza) sau Disable (dezactiveaza) functia de protectie

DoS. Doar cand este activata, filtrele flood vor fi operationale. Enable ICMP-FLOOD Attack Filtering -Enable (activeaza) sau Disable (dezactiveaza)filtrarea atacurilor ICMP-FLOOD. ICMP-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - Valoarea initiala este 50. Introduceti o

valoare intre 5 ~ 3600 pachete. Cand numarul pachetelor curente ICMP-FLOOD este

in afara valorii selectate, router-ul va initia imediat functia de blocare.

Enable UDP-FLOOD Filtering -Activeaza sau Dezactiveaza filtrarea UDP-FLOOD.UDP-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - Valoarea initiala este 50. Introduceti o

valoare intre 5 ~ 3600 pachete. Cand numarul pachetelor curente UPD-FLOOD este

in afara valorii selectate, router-ul va initia imediat functia de blocare.

Enable TCP-SYN-FLOOD Attack Filtering - Activeaza sau Dezactiveaza filtrarea atacurilor TCP-SYN-FLOOD.

TCP-SYN-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - Valoarea initiala este 50. Introduceti

o valoare intre 5 ~ 3600 pachete. Cand numarul pachetelor curente TCP-SYN-FLOODin afara valorii selectate, router-ul va initia imediat functia de blocare.

Ignore Ping Packet from WAN Port-Activeaza sau Dezactiveaza ignorarea pachetului

ping din portul WAN. Optiunea initiala este "Dezactivat". Daca este activat, pachetul ping de

pe Internet nu poate accesa router-ul.

Forbid Ping Packet from LAN Port- Activeaza sau dezactiveaza blocarea accesului

pachetului ping la router din portul LAN. Optiunea preselectata este "Disable (dezactivat). Daca este activat, pachetul ping din portul LAN nu poate accesa router-ul. (Protejeaza

impotriva anumitor virusi).

Apasati butonul Save pentru a sava setarile.

Apasati butonul Blocked DoS Host Table pentru a afisa tabelul gazdei DoS prin blocare. Va

aparea pagina ilustrata in figura 5-33:

Aceasta pagina indica Host IP Address si Host MAC Address pentru fiecare adresa blocata de

Pentru a actualiza aceasta pagina si a afisa adresele blocate, apasati butonul Refresh. Apasati Clear All pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile. Dupa ce tabela este golita adresele blocate vor putea accesa din nou Internetul. Apasati Return pentru a reveni la pagina Advanced Security.

5.9 Rutare Statica

O ruta statica este o ruta predeterminata pentru accesarea unei retele sau server.Pentru a adauga sau sterge o ruta, trebuie sa accesam pagina Static Routing(fig 5-34).

Pentru a adauga inregistrari de rute statice: 1. Introduceti urmatoarele date: Host IP adress - Adresa IP a destinatiei este adresa retelei sau a

serverului pentru care doriti sa asignati o ruta statica.Subnet Mask - Determina ce portiune a adresei IP este adresa retelei si care cea a gazdei. Gateway - Aceasta este adresa IP a gatewayului ce permite contactul dintre router si retea/server.

2. Apasati Enable. 3. Repetati pasii 1-2 pana ce incheiati. 4. Cand sunteti gata, apasati Save.

Pentru a modifica o inregistrare: 1. Modificati Destination IP Address, Subnet Mask si Gateway.2. Apasati Save.

Pentru a sterge o inregistrare: 1. Selectati inregistrarea dorita si stergeti toate informatiile din campuri. 2. Apasati Save.

5.10 DDNS

Routerul ofera functia de conectare la un Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS). DDNS permite asignarea unui domeniu cu adresa fixa la o adresa IP dinamica. Este utila cand hostezi propriul website, server FTP sau alte tipuri de servere in spatele routerului. Inainte de a utiliza aceasta facilitate, trebuie sa semnati un contract cu furnizorii de DDNS, ca www.dyndns.org, www.oray.net sau www.comexe.cn. Furnizorul de servicii DDNS va va furniza o parola sau cheie de acces. Pentru a seta DDNS, urmati aceste instructiuni:

5.10.1 Dyndns.org DDNS

Daca ati selectat ca furnizor DDNS www.dyndns.org. Pagina de configurare arata ca in fig 5-35:

5.11.1 Timpul

Puteti seta ora manual sau puteti sa va sincronizati cu un server din Internet ca mai jos (vezi figura 5-39):

Zona de timp - Selectati fusul orar local. Data - Introduceti data locala LL/ZZ/AAAA. Ora - Introduceti ora locala HH/MM/SS.

Pentru a seta ora, urmati pasii de mai jos: 1. Selectati fusul orar. 2. Introduceti data si ora corespunzatoare 3. Apasati Save.Apasati Get GMT pentru a sincroniza ceasul cu un server din Internet.

Nota:1. Aceasta setare va fi utilizata pentru unele dintre functiile routerului, ca firewall.

Trebuie sa specificati fusul orar, in caz contrar aceste functii nu vor functiona.2. Ora curenta va fi pierduta daca opriti routerul. 3. Routerul va obtine automat ora de la un server din Internet daca este deja conectat

la Internet.

5.11.2 Firmware

Pagina (figura 5-40) va permite sa actualizati softul firmware ce ruleaza pe router-ul dumneavoastra.

Noi versiuni de software sunt postate pe www.qubs.net si poate fi descarcat gratuit. Daca nu aveti probleme in utilizarea routerului, nu este necesara actualizarea acestui soft. Uneori, aceste softuri pot contine si noi functionalitati ale routerului.Nota: Actualizarea softwareului, duce la pierderea configuratiei acestuia, astfel incat va sfatuim sa va notati setarile acestuia inainte de actualizarea. Pentru a actualiza softwareul routerului, urmati instructiunile de mai jos: 1. Descarcati un soft firmware mai nou de pe siteul QUBS

(www.qubs.net) 2. Rulati un server TFTP pe statia dumneavoastra din LAN, selectati numele fisierului

in serverul TFTP.3. Tastati numele fisierului in campul File Name. 4. Tastati adresa IP a statiei ce ruleaza serverul TFTP in campul TFTP Server’s IP

Address.5. Apasati butonul Upgrade.

Firmware Version - afiseaza versiunea curenta a software-ului firmware. Hardware Version - afiseaza versiunea curenta a hardwareului. Versiunea hardware a upgradeului soft trebuie sa fie egala cu versiunea curenta a hardwareului.

Nota:1. Nu opriti sau resetati router-ului in timpul actualizarii acestuia.

Riscati defectarea definitiva a routerului.2. Routerul se va restarta dupa ce procesul de actualizare va fi finalizat.

5.11.3 Setari initiale

Aceasta pagina (fig 5-41) permite restaurarea setarilor din fabrica pentru routerul dumneavoastra.

Apasati Reboot pentru a restarta routerul. Anumite setari ale routerului vor fi activate doar dupa restartare:

Schimbarea adresei LAN IP. (Sistemul va restarta automat) Clonarea adresei MAC (sistemul va restarta automat) Functia DHCP. Adresa statica a serverului DHCP. Portul de service al routerului. Actualizarea softului firmware (sistemul va restarta automat).

Restaurati setarile routeruluit (sistemul va restarta automat).

5.11.5 Parola

Aceasta pagina (fig 5-43) permite schimbarea utilizatorului si a parolei implicite a router-ului.

Va recomandam sa schimbati utilizatorul si parola implicita a routerului. Toti utilizatorii ce incearca sa acceseze aplicatia router-ului vor trebui sa se autentifice prin utilizator si parola. Nota: Noul nume de utilizator si parola, nu trebuie sa depaseasca 14 charactere. Introduceti noua parola de doua ori pentru confirmare. Apasati butonul Save.Apasati Clear All pentru a sterge toate inregistrarile.

5.11.6 Log

Aceasta pagina (fig 5-44) va permite sa vedeti mesajele routerului.

Routerul poate inregistra informatiile de trafic. Puteti vedea aceste inregistrari pentru a identifica eventuale probleme. Apasati Refresh pentru a actualiza informatiile. Apasati Clear Log pentru a sterge toate informatiile.

5.11.7 Statistici

Pagina de statistici (fig 5-45) afiseaza traficul fiecarui PC din LAN, inclusiv traficul total si traficul ultimului pachet inregistrat conform setarii Packets Statistic interval.

Status Current Statistics - Activat sau Dezactivat. Valoarea implicita este dezactivat.Pentru a activa, apasati Enable. Daca este dezactivat, functia DoS din zona de Security nu va fi activa. Packets Statistics Interval - Valoarea implicita este 10. Selectati o valoarea intre 5 si 60 secunde. Acest interval indica perioada de timp la care se selecteaza pachetele pentru evaluarea lor statistica. Sorted Rules - aici se afiseaza regulile de sortare.

Anexa A: FAQ

1. Cum configurez router-ul pentru a accesa Internetul pentru utilizatorii ADSL?

1) Configurati modemul ADSL in modelul bridge RFC1483. 2) Connectati cablul Ethernet cable de la modem la portul WAN al routerului.

Cablul de telefon trebuie conectat la portul de telefon al modemului. 3) Autentificati-va in aplicatie, selectati meniul “Network” din partea stanga, si

apasati pe submeniul "WAN". In pagina WAN, selectati “PPPoE” pentru conexiuneaWAN. Introduceti numele utilizatorului si parola in campurile corespunzatoare, selectand apoi “Connect”.

4) Daca aveti o conexiune taxabila la minut, selectati “Connect on Demand” sau“connect Manually” pentru conexiunea Internet. 4. Doresc sa am un server WEB in LAN, ce trebuie sa fac?

1) Datorita faptului ca portul 80 al serverului WEB va interfera cu portul management web al routerului, trebuie sa schimbati portul de WEB management cu un alt numar pentru a evita interferentele.

2) Pentru a schimba portul de management WEB: Autentificati-va in aplicatie, apasati meniul “Security” din partea stanga si apasati pe submeniul "Remote Management" In pagina "Remote Management", tastati un numar de port cu exceptia 80, in campul"Web Management Port" (de ex 88). Thank you for choosing the QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router. This router provides dedicated solution for Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) networks. With your network all connected, your local wired or wireless network can share Internet access, files and fun for multiple PCs through one ISP account.

It adopts 2x to 3x eXtended Range™ WLAN transmission technology so that transmission distance is 2-3 times of traditional IEEE 802.11g/b solutions, up to 855.36m tested in China. Transmission range is extended to 4-9 times.

It is an easy web-based setup for installation and management. Even though you may not be familiar with the router, this guide will make configuring the router easy. Before installing the router, please look through this guide to get to know all the router’s functions.

Chapter 2: Introduction

2.1 Overview of the Router

The QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router integrates 4-port Switch, firewall, NAT-router and Wireless AP. Its design is dedicated to Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) wireless network solutions. The QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router will allow you to connect your network wirelessly better than ever, sharing Internet Access, files and fun, easily and securely.

In the most attentive wireless security, the QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router provides multiple protection measures. It can be set to turn off wireless network name (SSID) broadcast so that only stations that have the SSID can be connected. The router provides wireless LAN 64/128/152-bit WEP encryption security, and WPA/WPA2 and WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK authentication, as well as TKIP/AES encryption security. It also supports VPN pass-through for sensitive data secure transmission.

The QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router complies with the IEEE 802.11g/b standards so that the data transmission rate is up to 54Mbps. It adopts 2x to 3x eXtended Range™ WLAN transmission technology so that transmission distance is 2-3 times of traditional IEEE 802.11g/b solutions, up to a distance of 855.36m tested in China. Transmission range is extended to 4-9 times. It is compatible with all IEEE 802.11g and IEEE 802.11b products.

The QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router provides flexible access control so that parents or network administrators can establish restricted access policies for children or staff. It has built-in NAT and DHCP server supporting static IP address distributing. It also supports Virtual Server and DMZ host for Port Triggering needs, and remote management and log so that network administrators can manage and monitor the network in real time.

The QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router is easy-to-manage. Quick Setup is supported and friendly help messages are provided for every step. So you can configure it quickly and share Internet access, files and fun.

2.3.2 The Rear Panel

The rear panel contains the following features.

AC power socket: only use the power adapter supplied with the QA705401WG

54Mbps Wireless Router, use of a different adapter may result in product damage. Four 10/100Mbps RJ45 LAN ports for connecting the router to the local PCs RJ45 WAN port for connecting the router to a cable, DSL modem, or Ethernet Factory Default Reset button There are two ways to reset the router's factory defaults:

1) Use the Factory Defaults function on System Tools -> Factory Defaults page in the router's Web-based Utility.

2) Use the Factory Default Reset button: First, turn off the router's power. Second, press and hold the default reset button then turn on the router's power, until the SYS LED lights up (about 3 seconds). Last, release the reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Note: Ensure the router is powered on before it restarts completely. Wireless antenna

Chapter 3: Connecting the Router

3.1 System Requirements

3.2 Installation Environment Requirements

3.3 Connecting the Router

Before you install the router, you should connect your PC to the Internet through your broadband service successfully. If there is any problem, please contact your ISP. After that, please install the router according to the following steps. Don't forget to pull out the power plug and keep your hands dry.

1. Power off your PC, Cable/DSL modem, and the router. 2. Locate an optimum location for the router. The best place is usually near the center

of the area in which your PC will wirelessly connect. The place must accord with the Installation Environment Requirements.

3. Adjust the direction of the antenna. Normally, upright is a good direction. 4. Connect the PCs and each Switch/Hub in your LAN to the LAN Ports on the router,

shown in figure 3-1. (If you have the wireless NIC and want to use wireless function, you can skip this step.)

5. Connect the DSL/Cable Modem to the WAN port on the router, shown in figure 3-1. 6. Connect the AC power adapter to the AC power socket on the router, and the other

end into an electrical outlet. The router will start to work automatically. 7. Power on your PC and Cable/DSL modem.

Chapter 4: Quick Installation Guide

After connecting the QA705401WG Router into your network, you should configure it. This chapter describes how to configure the basic functions of your QA705401WG

Wireless Router. These procedures only take you a few minutes. You can access the Internet via the router immediately after successfully configuring.

4.1 TCP/IP configuration

The default IP address of the QA705401WG 54Mbps Wireless Router is 192.168.1.1. And the default Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0. These values can be seen from the LAN. They can be changed as you desire, as an example we use the default values for description in this guide.

Connect the local PC to the LAN ports of the router. There are then two ways to configure the IP address for your PC.

Configure the IP address manually 1) Set up the TCP/IP Protocol for your PC. If you need instructions as to how to do

this, please refer to Appendix B: "Configuring the PC." 2) Configure the network parameters. The IP address is 192.168.1.xxx ("xxx" is

from 2 to 254), Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0, and Gateway is 192.168.1.1 (The router's default IP address)

Obtain an IP address automatically 1) Set up the TCP/IP Protocol in "Obtain an IP address automatically" mode on

your PC. If you need instructions as to how to do this, please refer to Appendix B: "Configuring the PC."

2) Power off the router and PC. Then turn on the router and restart the PC. The built-in DHCP server will assign IP address for the PC.

Now, you can run the Ping command in the command prompt to verify the network connection between your PC and the router. The following example is in Windows 2000 OS.

Open a command prompt, and type ping 192.168.1.1, then press Enter.

If the result displayed is similar to that shown in figure 4-1, the connection between your PC and the router has been established.

If the result displayed is similar to that shown in figure 4-2, it means that your PC has not connected to the router.

Please check it following these steps:

1. Is the connection between your PC and the router correct?

Note: The 1/2/3/4 LEDs of LAN port which you link to on the router and LEDs on your PC's adapter should be lit.

2. Is the TCP/IP configuration for your PC correct?

Note: If the router's IP address is 192.168.1.1, your PC's IP address must be within the range of 192.168.1.2 ~ 192.168.1.254, the gateway must be 192.168.1.1

Click Next, then Choose WAN Connection Type page will appear, shown in figure 4-6.

The router supports three popular ways to connect to Internet. Please select one compatible with your ISP. Click Next to enter the necessary network parameters.

If you choose "PPPoE", you will see this page shown in figure 4-7:

User Name and Password - Enter the User Name and Password provided by your ISP. These fields are case sensitive. If you have difficulty with this process, please contact your ISP.

If you choose "Dynamic IP", the router will automatically receive the IP parameters from your ISP without needing to enter any parameters. If you Choose "Static IP", the Static IP settings page will appear, shown in figure 4-8:

Note - The IP parameters should have been provided by your ISP. IP Address - This is the WAN IP address as seen by external users on the Internet

(including your ISP). Enter the IP address into the field. Subnet Mask - The Subnet Mask is used for the WAN IP address, it is usually

255.255.255.0

Chapter 5: Configuring the Router

This chapter describes each web page's key functions.

5.1 login

After your successful login, you can configure and manage the router. There are ten main menus on the left of the web-based utility. Submenus will be available after you click one of the main menus. The ten main menus are: Status, Quick Setup, Network, Wireless, DHCP, Forwarding, Security, Static Routing, DDNS and System Tools. On the right of the web-based utility, there are the detailed explanations and instructions for the corresponding page. To apply any settings you have altered on the page, please click the Save button.

The detailed explanations for each web page key’s function is listed below.

5.2 Status

The Status page displays the router's current status and configuration. All information is read-only.

1. LAN This field displays the current settings or information for the LAN, including the MAC address, IP address and Subnet Mask.

2. Wireless This field displays basic information or status for wireless function, including Wireless Radio, SSID, Channel, Mode, Wireless MAC address and IP address.

3. WAN These parameters apply to the WAN port of the router, including MAC address, IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, DNS server and WAN connection type. If PPPoE is chosen as the WAN connection type, the Disconnect button will be shown here while you are accessing the Internet. You can also cut the connection by clicking the button. If you have not connected to the Internet, just click Connect to establish the connection.

Traffic Statistics

This field displays the router's traffic statistics.

4. System Up Time The amount of time from when the router was switched on or reset.

There are three submenus under the Network menu (shown in figure 5-2): LAN, WAN and MAC Clone. Click any of them, and you will be able to configure the corresponding function. The detailed explanations for each submenu are provided below.

5.4.1 LAN

You can configure the IP parameters of LAN on this page.

MAC Address - The physical address of the router, as seen from the LAN. The value can't be changed.

IP Address - Enter the IP address of your router in dotted-decimal notation (factory default: 192.168.1.1).

Subnet Mask - An address code that determines the size of the network. Normally use 255.255.255.0 as the subnet mask.

Note: a. If you change the IP Address of LAN, you must use the new IP Address to login the

router. b. If the new LAN IP Address you set is not in the same subnet, the IP Address pool of

the DHCP server will not take effect, until they are re-configured. c. If the new LAN IP Address you set is not in the same subnet, the Virtual Server and

DMZ Host will change accordingly at the same time.

5.4.2 WAN

You can configure the WAN port parameters on this page.

First, please choose the WAN Connection Type (Dynamic IP/Static IP/PPPoE/802.1X + Dynamic IP/802.1X + Static IP/BigPond Cable/L2TP/PPTP) for Internet. The default type is Dynamic IP. If you aren’t given any login parameters (fixed IP Address, logging ID, etc), please select Dynamic IP. If you are given a fixed IP (static IP), please select

Static IP. If you are given a user name and a password, please select the type of your ISP provided(PPPoE/BigPond/L2TP/PPTP). If you are not sure which connection type you use currently, please contact your ISP to obtain the correct information.

1. If you choose Dynamic IP, the router will automatically get IP parameters from your ISP. You can see the page as follows (figure 5-4):

This page displays the WAN IP parameters assigned dynamically by your ISP, including IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, etc. Click the Renew button to renew the IP parameters from your ISP. Click the Release button to release the IP parameters.

MTU Size - The normal MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) value for most Ethernet networks is 1500 Bytes. For some ISPs you need to reduce the MTU. But this is rarely required, and should not be done unless you are sure it is necessary for your ISP connection.

If your ISP gives you one or two DNS addresses, select Use These DNS Servers and enter the primary and secondary addresses into the correct fields. Otherwise, the DNS servers will be assigned dynamically from your ISP.

Note: If you get address and find error when you go to a Web site, it is likely that your DNS servers are set up improperly. You should contact your ISP to get DNS server addresses.

Get IP with Unicast DHCP - A few ISPs' DHCP servers do not support the broadcast applications. If you cannot get the IP Address normally, you can choose

this option. (This is rarely required.)

2. If you choose Static IP, you should have fixed IP Parameters specified by your ISP. The Static IP settings page will appear, shown in figure 5-5:

You should type the following parameters into the spaces provided:

IP Address - Enter the IP address in dotted-decimal notation provided by your ISP. Subnet Mask - Enter the subnet Mask in dotted-decimal notation provided by your

ISP, usually is 255.255.255.0. Default Gateway - (Optional) Enter the gateway IP address in dotted-decimal

notation provided by your ISP. MTU Size - The normal MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) value for most

Ethernet networks is 1500 Bytes. For some ISPs you may need to modify the MTU. But this is rarely required, and should not be done unless you are sure it is necessary for your ISP connection.

Primary DNS - (Optional) Enter the DNS address in dotted-decimal notation provided by your ISP.

Secondary DNS - (Optional) Type another DNS address in dotted-decimal notation provided by your ISP if provided.

3. If you choose PPPoE, you should enter the following parameters (figure 5-6):

If you wish to activate Connect on Demand, click the radio button. If you want your Internet connection to remain active at all times, enter 0 in the Max Idle Time field. Otherwise, enter the number of minutes you want to have elapsed before your Internet connection terminates. Caution: Sometimes the connection cannot be disconnected although you specify a time to Max Idle Time, since some applications is visiting the Internet continually in the background.

Connect Automatically - Connect automatically after the router is disconnected. To use this option, click the radio button.

Time-based Connecting - You can configure the router to make it connect or disconnect based on time. Enter the start time in HH:MM format for connecting and end time in HH:MM format for disconnecting in the Period of Time fields.

Note: Only when you have configured the system time on System Tools -> Time page, will the Time-based Connecting function can take effect.

Connect Manually - You can configure the router to make it connect or disconnect manually. After a specified period of inactivity (Max Idle Time), the router will disconnect from the Internet connection, and you will not be able to re-establish your connection automatically as soon as you attempt to access the Internet again. use this option, click the radio button. If you want your Internet connection to remain active at all times, enter "0" in the Max Idle Time field. Otherwise, enter the number time in minutes that you wish to have the Internet connecting last unless a new link is requested.

Click the Connect button to connect immediately, Click the Disconnect button to disconnect immediately.

Click the Advanced Settings button to set up the advanced option, the page shown in figure 5-7 will then appear:

Packet MTU - The default MTU size is 1492 bytes, which value is usually fine. For some ISPs, you need modify the MTU. This should not be done unless you are sure it is necessary for your ISP.

Service Name/AC Name - The service name and AC (Access Concentrator) name, these should not be configured unless you are sure it is necessary for your ISP.

ISP Specified IP Address - If you know that your ISP does not automatically transmit your IP address to the router during login, click “Use the IP Address specified by ISP” check box and enter the IP Address in dotted-decimal notation, which your ISP provided.

Detect Online Interval - The default value is 0, you can input the value between 0 and 120. The router will detect Access Concentrator online at every interval between seconds. If the value is 0, it means, do not detect.

DNS IP address - If you know that your ISP does not automatically transmit DNS addresses to the router during login, click “Use the following DNS servers” checkbox and enter the IP address in dotted-decimal notation of your ISP’s primary

DNS server. If a secondary DNS server address is available, enter it as well.

Click the Save button to save your settings.

4. If you choose 802.1X + Dynamic IP, you should enter the follow parameters(figure 5-8) :

User Name - Enter the user name for 802.1X authentication provided by your ISP Password - Enter the password for 802.1X authentication provided by your ISP.

Click Login to start 802.1X authentication. Click Logout to end 802.1X authentication.

Host Name - This field is required to be filled by some service provider.

5. If you choose 802.1X + Static IP, you should enter the follow parameters(figure 5-9) :

5.4.3 MAC Clone

You can configure the MAC address of the WAN port on this page, figure 5-13:

Some ISPs require that you register the MAC Address of your adapter, which is connected to your cable, DSL modem or Ethernet during installation. Changes are rarely needed here.

WAN MAC Address - This field displays the current MAC address of the WAN port, which is used for the WAN port. If your ISP requires that you register the MAC address, please enter the correct MAC address into this field. The format for the MAC Address is XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X is any hexadecimal digit).

Your PC's MAC Address - This field displays the MAC address of the PC that is managing the router. If the MAC address is required, you can click the Clone MAC Address button and this MAC address will fill in the WAN MAC Address field.

Click Restore Factory MAC to restore the MAC address of WAN port to the factory default value.

Click the Save button to save your settings.

SSID - Enter a value of up to 32 characters. The same name (SSID) must be assigned to all wireless devices in your network. The default SSID is QUBS, but it is recommended strongly that you change your networks name (SSID) to a different value. This value is case-sensitive. For example, QUBS is NOT the same as qubs.

Region - Select your region from the pull-down list. This field specifies the region where the wireless function of the router can be used. It may be illegal to use the wireless function of the router in a region other than one of those specified in this field. If your country or region is not listed, please contact your local government agency for assistance.

The default region is United States. When you select your local region from the pull-down list, Click the Save button, then the Note Dialog appears. Click OK.

Note: Limited by local law regulations, version for North America does not have region selection option.

Channel - This field determines which operating frequency will be used. It is not necessary to change the wireless channel unless you notice interference problems with another nearby access point.

Mode - Select the desired wireless mode. The options are: • 54Mbps (802.11g) - Both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless stations can connect

to the router. • 11Mbps (802.11b) - Only 802.11b wireless stations can connect to the router.

Note: The default is "54Mbps (802.11g)", which allows both 802.11g and 802.11b wireless stations to connect to the router.

Enable Wireless Router Radio - The wireless radio of this Router can be enabled or disabled to allow wireless stations access. If enabled, wireless stations will be able to access the router, otherwise, wireless stations will not be able to access.

Enable SSID Broadcast - If you select the Enable SSID Broadcast checkbox, the Wireless Router SSID will broadcast its name (SSID) on the air.

Enable Wireless Security – The wireless security function can be enabled or disabled. If disabled, the wireless stations will be able to connect the router without encryption. It is strongly recommended that you choose this option to encrypt your wireless network. The encryption settings are described below.

Authentication Type - You can select one of the following authentication types: • WEP - Select WEP authentication type based on 802.11 authentications. • WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK - Select WPA/WPA2 authentication type based on

pre-shared passphrase. • WPA /WPA2 - Select WPA/WPA2 authentication type based on Radius Server.

Authentication Options - You can select one of the following authentication options:

• When you select WEP for authentication type you can select the following authentication options:

• Automatic - Select Shared Key or Open System authentication type automatically based on the wireless station request.

• Shared Key - Select 802.11 Shared Key authentication. • Open System - Select 802.11 Open System authentication. • When you select WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK for authentication type you can select

Automatic, WPA –PSK or WPA2-PSK as authentication options. • When you select WPA/WPA2 as an authentication type you can select

Automatic WPA or WPA2 as authentication option.

WEP Key Format - You can select ASCII or Hexadecimal format. ASCII Code Format stands for any combination of keyboard characters in the specified length. Hexadecimal format stands for any combination of hexadecimal digits (0-9, a-f, A-F) in the specified length.

WEP Key settings - Select which of the four keys will be used and enter the matching WEP key information for your network in the selected key radio button. These values must be identical on all wireless stations in your network.

Key Type - You can select the WEP key length (64-bit, or 128-bit, or 152-bit) for encryption. "Disabled" means the WEP key entry is invalid. • For 64-bit encryption - You can enter 10 hexadecimal digits (any combination

of 0-9, a-f, A-F, zero key is not permitted) or 5 ASCII characters. • For 128-bit encryption - You can enter 26 hexadecimal digits (any combination

of 0-9, a-f, A-F, zero key is not permitted) or 13 ASCII characters. • For 152-bit encryption - You can enter 32 hexadecimal digits (any combination

of 0-9, a-f, A-F, zero key is not permitted) or 16 ASCII characters.

Encryption - When you select WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK or WPA/WPA2 for Authentication Type you can select either Automatic, TKIP or AES as Encryptions.

WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK Passphrase - You can enter a WPA or WPA2 passphrase between 8 and 63 characters long.

Group Key Update Period - Specify the group key update interval in seconds. The value can be either 0 seconds or from 30 seconds and up, 1-29 seconds are not usable figures. Enter 0 to disable the update.

Radius Server IP - Enter the IP address of the Radius Server Radius Port - Enter the port number that the radius service used. Radius Password - Enter the password for the Radius Server.

Be sure to click the Save button to save your settings on this page. Note: The router will reboot automatically after you click save.

5.5.2 MAC Filtering

The Wireless MAC Filtering for wireless networks are set on this page, figure 5-16:

The Wireless MAC Address Filtering feature allows you to control wireless stations accessing the router, which depend on the station's MAC addresses.

MAC Address - The wireless station's MAC address that you want to access. Status - The status of this entry either Enabled or Disabled.

Privilege - Select the privileges for this entry. You may select one of the following Allow / Deny / 64-bit / 128-bit / 152-bit.

Description - A simple description of the wireless station. WEP Key - Specify a unique WEP key (in Hexadecimal format) to access the router.

To set up an entry, follow these instructions:

First, you must decide whether the unspecified wireless stations can access the router or not. If you desire that the unspecified wireless stations can access the router, please select the radio button Allow the stations not specified by any enabled entries in the list to access, otherwise, select the radio button Deny the stations not specified by any enabled entries in the list to access.

To Add a Wireless MAC Address filtering entry, click the Add New… button. The " Add or Modify Wireless MAC Address Filtering entry" page will appear, shown in figure 5-17:

To add or modify a MAC Address Filtering entry, follow these instructions:

1. Enter the appropriate MAC Address into the MAC Address field. The format of the MAC Address is XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X is any hexadecimal digit). For example: 00-0A-EB-B0-00-0B.

2. Enter a simple description of the wireless station in the Description field. For example: Wireless station A.

3. Privilege - Select the privileges for this entry, one of Allow / Deny / 64-bit / 128-bit / 152-bit.

4. WEP Key - If you select 64-bit, 128-bit or 152-bit in the Privilege field, enter any combination of hexadecimal digits (0-9, a-f, A-F) in the specified length. For example: 2F34D20BE2.

5. Status - Select Enabled or Disabled for this entry on the Status pull-down list. 6. Click the Save button to save this entry.

To add additional entries, repeat steps 1-6. Note: When 64-bit, or 128-bit, or 152-bit is selected, WEP Key will be enabled.

To modify or delete an existing entry: 1. Click the Modify in the entry you want to modify. If you want to delete the entry, click

the Delete. 2. Modify the information. 3. Click the Save button.

Click the Enable All button to make all entries enabled Click the Disabled All button to make all entries disabled. Click the Delete All button to delete all entries

Click the Next button to go to the next page and click the Previous button to return to the previous page.

For example: If you desire that the wireless station A with MAC address 00-0A-EB-00- 07-BE be able to access the router. The wireless station B with MAC address 00-0A-EB- 00-07-5F not be able to access the router, and the wireless station C with MAC address 00-0A-EB-00-07-8A be able to access the router when its WEP key is 2F34D20BE2E 54B326C5476586A, while all other wireless stations cannot access the router, you should configure the Wireless MAC Address Filtering list by following these steps: 1. Click the Enable button to enable this function. 2. Select the radio button: Deny the stations not specified by any enabled entries in

the list to access for Filtering Rules. 3. Delete all or disable all entries if there are any entries already. 4. Click the Add New... button and enter the MAC address 00-0A-EB-00-07-BE in the

MAC Address field, enter wireless station A in the Description field, select Allow in the Privilege pull-down list and select Enabled in the Status pull-down list. Click the Save and the Return button.

5. Click the Add New... button and enter the MAC address 00-0A-EB-00-07-5F in the MAC Address field, enter wireless station B in the Description field, select Deny in the Privilege pull-down list and select Enabled in the Status pull-down list. Click the Save and the Return button.

6. Click the Add New... button and enter the MAC address 00-0A-EB-00-07-8A in the MAC Address field, enter wireless station C in the Description field, select 128-bit in the Privilege pull-down list, enter 2F34D20BE2E54B326C5476586A in the WEP Key field and select Enabled in the Status pull-down list. Click the Save and the Return button. The filtering rules that configured should be similar to the following list:

Note:

a) If you select the radio button Allow the stations not specified by any enabled entries in the list to access for Filtering Rules, the wireless station B will still not be able to access the router, however, other wireless stations that are not in the list will be able to access the router.

b) If you enable the function and select the Deny the stations not specified by

any enabled entries in the list to access for Filtering Rules, and there are not any enable entries in the list, thus, no wireless stations can access the router.

5.5.3 Wireless Statistics

This page shows MAC Address, Current Status, Received Packets and Sent Packets for each connected wireless station.

If the numbers of connected wireless stations go beyond one page, click the Next button to go to the next page and click the Previous button to return the previous page.

Note: This page will be refreshed automatically every 5 seconds.

5.6 DHCP

There are three submenus under the DHCP menu (shown in figure 5-19): DHCP Settings, DHCP Clients List and Address Reservation. Click any of them, and you will be able to configure the corresponding function. The detailed explanations for each submenu are provided below.

5.6.1 DHCP Settings

The router is set up by default as a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, which provides the TCP/IP configuration for all the PCs that are connected to the router on the LAN. The DHCP Server can be configured on the page (shown in figure 5-20):

DHCP Server - Enable or Disable the DHCP server. If you disable the Server, you must have another DHCP server within your network or else you must manually configure the computer.

Start IP Address - This field specifies the first of the addresses in the IP address pool. 192.168.1.100 is the default start address.

End IP Address - This field specifies the last of the addresses in the IP address pool. 192.168.1.199 is the default end address.

Address Lease Time - The Address Lease Time is the amount of time in which a network user will be allowed connection to the router with their current dynamic IP Address. Enter the amount of time, in minutes. The user will be "leased" this dynamic IP Address. The range of the time is 1 ~ 2880 minutes. The default value is 120 minutes.

Default Gateway - (Optional.) Suggest to input the IP address of the LAN port of the router, default value is 192.168.1.1

Default Domain - (Optional.) Input the domain name of your network. Primary DNS - (Optional.) Input the DNS IP address provided by your ISP. Or

consult your ISP. Secondary DNS - (Optional.) Input the IP address of another DNS server if your

ISP provides two DNS servers.

Note: To use the DHCP server function of the router, you must configure all computers on the LAN as "Obtain an IP Address automatically" mode. This function will take effect until the router reboots.

5.6.2 DHCP Clients List

This page shows Client Name, MAC Address, Assigned IP and Lease Time for each

client will request to renew the lease automatically.

You cannot change any of the values on this page. To update this page and to show the current attached devices, click on the Refresh button.

5.6.3 Address Reservation

When you specify a reserved IP address for a PC on the LAN, that PC will always receive the same IP address each time when it accesses the DHCP server. Reserved IP addresses should be assigned to servers that require permanent IP settings. This page is used for address reservation (shown in figure 5-22).

MAC Address - The MAC address of the PC of which you want to reserve IP address.

Assigned IP Address - The IP address of the router reserved. Status - The status of this entry either Enabled or Disabled.

To Reserve IP addresses: 1. Click the Add New button. (Pop-up figure 5-23) 2. Enter the MAC address (The format for the MAC Address is XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX.)

5.7 Forwarding

There are four submenus under the Forwarding menu (shown in figure 5-24): Virtual Servers, Port Triggering, DMZ and UPnP. Click any of them, and you will be able to configure the corresponding function. The detailed explanations for each submenu are provided below.

5.7.1 Virtual Servers

Virtual servers can be used for setting up public services on your LAN, such as DNS, Email and FTP. A virtual server is defined as a service port, and all requests from the Internet to this service port will be redirected to the computer specified by the server IP. Any PC that was used for a virtual server must have a static or reserved IP Address

because its IP Address may change when using the DHCP function. You can set up virtual servers on this page, shown in figure 5-25:

Service Port - The numbers of External Ports. You can type a service port or a range of service ports (the format is XXX – YYY, XXX is Start port, YYY is End port).

IP Address - The IP Address of the PC providing the service application. Protocol - The protocol used for this application, either TCP, UDP, or All (all

protocols supported by the router). Status - The status of this entry either Enabled or Disabled.

To setup a virtual server entry: 1. Click the Add New button. (pop-up figure 5-26) 2. Select the service you want to use from the Common Service Port list. If the

Common Service Port list does not have the service that you want to use, type the number of the service port or service port range in the Service Port box.

3. Type the IP Address of the computer in the Server IP Address box. 4. Select the protocol used for this application, either TCP or UDP, or All. 5. Select the Enable checkbox to enable the virtual server. 6. Click the Save button.

Note: It is possible that you have a computer or server that has more than one type of available service. If so, select another service, and enter the same IP Address for that computer or server.

Note: If you set the virtual server of service port as 80, you must set the web management port on Security –> Remote Management page to be any value except 80 such as 8080. Or else there will be a conflict to disable the virtual server.

5.7.2 Port Triggering

Some applications require multiple connections, like Internet games, video conferencing, Internet calling and so on. These applications cannot work with a pure NAT router. Port Triggering is used for some of these applications that can work with an NAT router. You can set up Port Triggering on this page shown in figure 5-27:

Once configured, operation is as follows:

1. A local host makes an outgoing connection using a destination port number defined in the Trigger Port field.

2. The router records this connection, opens the incoming port or ports associated with this entry in the Port Triggering table, and associates them with the local host.

3. When necessary the external host will be able to connect to the local host using one of the ports defined in the Incoming Ports field.

Trigger Port - The port for outgoing traffic. An outgoing connection using this port will "Trigger" this rule.

Trigger Protocol - The protocol used for Trigger Ports, either TCP, UDP, or All (all protocols supported by the router).

Incoming Ports Range - The port or port range used by the remote system when it responds to the outgoing request. A response using one of these ports will be forwarded to the PC that triggered this rule. You can input at most 5 groups of ports (or port section). Every group of ports must be set apart with ",". For example, 2000-2038, 2050-2051, 2085, 3010-3030.

Incoming Protocol - The protocol used for Incoming Ports Range, either TCP or UDP, or ALL (all protocols supported by the router).

Status - The status of this entry either Enabled or Disabled.

To add a new rule, enter the following data on the Port Triggering screen. 1. Click the Add New button. (pop-up figure 5-28) 2. Enter a port number used by the application when it generates an outgoing

request. 3. Select the protocol used for Trigger Port from the pull-down list, either TCP, UDP,

or All. 4. Enter the range of port numbers used by the remote system when it responds to

the PC's request. 5. Select the protocol used for Incoming Ports Range from the pull-down list, either

TCP or UDP, or All. 6. Select the Enable checkbox to enable. 7. Click the Save button to save the new rule.

There are many popular applications in the Popular Application list. You can select it, and the application will fill in the Trigger Port, incoming Ports Range boxes and select the Enable checkbox. It has the same effect as adding a new rule.

Note: 1. When the trigger connection is released, the according opening ports will be closed. 2. Each rule allowed to be used only by one host on LAN synchronously. The trigger

connection of other hosts on LAN will be refused. 3. Incoming Port Range cannot overlap each other.

5.7.3 DMZ

The DMZ host feature allows one local host to be exposed to the Internet for a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming or videoconferencing. DMZ host forwards all the ports at the same time. Any PC whose port is being forwarded must have its DHCP client function disabled and should have a new static IP Address assigned to it because its IP Address may change when using the DHCP function. You can set up DMZ host on this page shown in figure 5-29:

To assign a computer or server to be a DMZ server: 1. Click the Enable radio button 2. Enter the local host IP Address in the DMZ Host IP Address field 3. Click the Save button.

Note: After you set the DMZ host, the firewall related to the host will not work.

5.7.4 UPnP

The Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) feature allows the devices, such as Internet computers, to access the local host resources or devices as needed. UPnP devices can be automatically discovered by the UPnP service application on the LAN. You can configure UPnP on this page that shown in figure 5-30:

Current UPnP Status - UPnP can be enabled or disabled by clicking the Enable or Disable button. As allowing this may present a risk to security, this feature is disabled by default.

Current UPnP Settings List - This table displays the current UPnP information. • App Description – The description provided by the application in the UPnP

request • External Port - External port, which the router opened for the application. • Protocol - Which type of protocol is opened. • Internal Port - Internal port, which the router opened for local host. • IP Address - The UPnP device that is currently accessing the router. • Status - Either Enabled or Disabled, “Enabled” means that port is still active,

otherwise, the port is inactive.

Click Refresh to update the Current UPnP Settings List.

5.8 Security

There are six submenus under the Security menu (shown in figure 5-31): Firewall, IP Address Filtering, Domain Filtering, MAC Filtering, Remote Management and Advanced Security. Click any of them, and you will be able to configure the corresponding function. The detailed explanations for each submenu are provided below.

5.8.1 Firewall

Using the Firewall page (shown in figure 5-32), you can turn the general firewall switch

on or off. The default setting for the switch is off. If the general firewall switch is off, even if IP Address Filtering, DNS Filtering and MAC Filtering are enabled, their settings are ineffective.

Enable Firewall - the general firewall switch is on or off. Enable IP Address Filtering - set IP Address Filtering is enabled or disabled.

There are two default filtering rules of IP Address Filtering, either Allow or Deny passing through the router.

Enable Domain Filtering - set Domain Filtering is enabled or disabled. Enable MAC Filtering - set MAC Address Filtering is enabled or disabled. You can

select the default filtering rules of MAC Address Filtering, either Allow or Deny accessing the router.

5.8.2 IP Address Filtering

The IP address Filtering feature allows you to control Internet Access by specific users on your LAN based on their IP addresses. The IP address filtering are set on this page, figure 5-33:

To disable the IP Address Filtering feature, keep the default setting, Disabled. To set up an IP Address Filtering entry, click Enable Firewall and Enable IP Address Filtering on the Firewall page, and click the Add New… button. The page "Add or Modify an IP Address Filtering entry" will appear shown in figure 5-34:

To create or modify an IP Address Filtering entry, please follow these instructions: 1. Effective Time - Enter a range of time in HHMM format, which point to the range

time for the entry to take effect. For example, 0803 - 1705, the entry will take effect from 08:03 to 17:05.

2. LAN IP Address - Enter a LAN IP Address or a range of LAN IP addresses in the field, in dotted-decimal notation format. For example, 192.168.1.20 - 192.168.1.30. Keep the field open, which means all LAN IP Addresses have been put into the field.

3. LAN Port - Enter a LAN Port or a range of LAN ports in the field. For example, 1030 - 2000. Keep the field open, which means all LAN ports have been put into the field.

4. WAN IP Address - Enter a WAN IP Address or a range of WAN IP Addresses in the field, in dotted-decimal notation format. For example, 61.145.238.6 – 61.145.238.47.

Keep the field open, which means all WAN IP Addresses have been put into the field.

5. WAN Port -Enter a WAN Port or a range of WAN Ports in the field. For example, 25 – 110. Keep the field open, which means all WAN Ports have been put into the field.

6. Protocol - Select which protocol is to be used, either TCP, UDP, or All (all protocols supported by the router).

7. Pass - Select either Allow or Deny through the router. 8. Status - Select Enabled or Disabled for this entry on the Status pull-down list. 9. Click the Save button to save this entry.

To modify or delete an existing entry: 1. Click the Modify in the entry you want to modify. If you want to delete the entry, click

the Delete. 2. Modify the information. 3. Click the Save button.

Click the Enable All button to make all entries enabled Click the Disabled All button to make all entries disabled. Click the Delete All button to delete all entries

You can change the entry’s order as desired. Fore entries are before hind entries. Enter the ID number in the first box you want to move and another ID number in second box you want to move to, and then click the Move button to change the entry’s order.

Click the Next button to the next page and click the Previous button to return to the previous page.

For example: If you desire to block E-mail received and sent by the IP Address 192.168.1.7 on your local network, and to make the PC with IP Address 192.168.1.8 unable to visit the website of IP Address 202.96.134.12, while other PCs have no limit you should specify the following IP address filtering list:

5.8.3 Domain Filtering

The Domain Filtering page (shown in figure 5-35) allows you to control access to certain websites on the Internet by specifying their domains or key words.

Before adding a Domain Filtering entry, you must ensure that Enable Firewall and Enable Domain Filtering have been selected on the Firewall page. To Add a Domain filtering entry, click the Add New… button. The page "Add or Modify a Domain Filtering entry" will appear, shown in figure 5-36:

To add or modify a Domain Filtering entry, follow these instructions: 1. Effective Time - Enter a range of time in HHMM format specifying the time for the

entry to take effect. For example, if you enter: 0803 - 1705, than the entry will take effect from 08:03 to 17:05.

2. Domain Name - Type the domain or key word as desired in the field. A blank in the domain field means all websites on the Internet. For example: www.xxyy.com.cn, .net.

3. Status - Select Enabled or Disabled for this entry on the Status pull-down list. 4. Click the Save button to save this entry. To modify or delete an existing entry: 1. Click the Modify in the entry you want to modify. If you want to delete the entry, click

the Delete. 2. Modify the information. 3. Click the Save button.

5.8.4 MAC Filtering

Like the IP Address Filtering page, the MAC Address Filtering page (shown in figure 5-37) allows you to control access to the Internet by users on your local network based on their MAC Address.

Before setting up MAC Filtering entries, you must ensure that Enable Firewall and Enable MAC Filtering have been selected on the Firewall page. To Add a MAC Address filtering entry, clicking the Add New… button. The page "Add or Modify a MAC Address Filtering entry" will appear, shown in figure 5-38:

To add or modify a MAC Address Filtering entry, follow these instructions: 1. Enter the appropriate MAC Address into the MAC Address field. The format of the

MAC Address is XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX (X is any hexadecimal digit). For example: 00-0E-AE-B0-00-0B.

2. Type the description of the PC in the Description field. Fox example: John’s PC. 3. Status - Select Enabled or Disabled for this entry on the Status pull-down list. 4. Click the Save button to save this entry. To add additional entries, repeat steps 1-4. When finished, click the Return button to return to the MAC Address Filtering page. To modify or delete an existing entry: 1. Click the Modify in the entry you want to modify. If you want to delete the entry, click

the Delete. 2. Modify the information. 3. Click the Save button.

Click the Enable All button to make all entries enabled. Click the Disabled All button to make all entries disabled. Click the Delete All button to delete all entries

Click the Next button to go to the next page and click the Previous button to return to the previous page.

Fox example: If you want to block the PC with MAC addresses 00-0A-EB-00-07-BE and 00-0A-EB-00-07-5F to access the Internet, first, enable the Firewall and MAC Address Filtering on the Firewall page, then, you should specify the Default MAC Address Filtering Rule "Deny these PCs with effective rules to access the Internet" on the Firewall page and the following MAC address filtering list on this page:

5.8.5 Remote Management

You can configure the Remote Management function on this page shown in figure 5-39.

This feature allows you to manage your Router from a remote location, via the Internet.

Web Management Port - Web browser access normally uses the standard HTTP service port 80. This router’s default remote management web port number is 80. For greater security, you can change the remote management web interface to a custom port by entering that number in this box provided. Choose a number between 1024 and 65534, but do not use the number of any common service port.

Remote Management IP Address - This is the current address you will use when accessing your router from the Internet. The default IP Address is 0.0.0.0. It means this function is disabled. To enable this function, change the default IP Address to another IP Address as desired.

To access the router, you will type your router's WAN IP Address into your browser's Address (in IE) or Location (in Navigator) box, followed by a colon and the custom port number. For example, if your Router's WAN address is 202.96.12.8 and you use port number 8080, enter in your browser: http://202.96.12.8:8080. You will be asked for the router's password. After successfully entering the password, you will be able to access the router's web-based utility.

Note: Be sure to change the router's default password to a very secure password.

5.8.6 Advanced Security

Using Advanced Security page (shown in figure 5-40), you can protect the router from being attacked by TCP-SYN Flood, UDP Flood and ICMP-Flood from LAN.

Packets Statistic interval (5 ~ 60) - The default value is 10. Select a value between 5 and 60 seconds in the pull-down list. The Packets Statistic interval value indicates the time section of the packets statistic. The result of the statistic used for analysis by SYN Flood, UDP Flood and ICMP-Flood.

DoS protection - Enable or Disable the DoS protection function. Only when it is enabled, will the flood filters be effective.

Enable ICMP-FLOOD Attack Filtering - Enable or Disable the ICMP-FLOOD Attack Filtering.

ICMP-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - The default value is 50. Enter a value between 5 ~ 3600 packets. When the current ICMP-FLOOD Packets number sis beyond the set value, the router will start up the blocking function immediately.

Enable UDP-FLOOD Filtering - Enable or Disable the UDP-FLOOD Filtering. UDP-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - The default value is 50. Enter a

value between 5 ~ 3600 packets. When the current UPD-FLOOD Packets numbers is beyond the set value, the router will start up the blocking function immediately.

Enable TCP-SYN-FLOOD Attack Filtering - Enable or Disable the TCP-SYN- FLOOD Attack Filtering.

TCP-SYN-FLOOD Packets threshold: (5 ~ 3600) - The default value is 50. Enter a value between 5 ~ 3600 packets. When the current TCP-SYN-FLOOD Packets numbers is beyond the set value, the router will start up the blocking function immediately.

Ignore Ping Packet from WAN Port - Enable or Disable ignore ping packet from WAN port. The default is disabled. If enabled, the ping packet from the Internet

cannot access the router. Forbid Ping Packet from LAN Port - Enable or Disable forbidding Ping Packet to

access the router from the LAN port. The default value is disabled. If enabled, the ping packet from the LAN port cannot access the router. (Defends against some viruses)

Click the Save button to save the settings.

Click the Blocked DoS Host Table button to display the DoS host table by blocking. The page will appear that shown in figure 5-41:

This page shows Host IP Address and Host MAC Address for each host blocked by the router.

Host IP Address- The IP address that blocked by DoS are displayed here. Host MAC Address - The MAC address that blocked by DoS are displayed here.

To update this page and to show the current blocked host, click on the Refresh button. Click the Clear All button to clear all displayed entries. After the table is empty the blocked host will regain the capability to access Internet. Click the Return button to return to the Advanced Security page

5.9 Static Routing

A static route is a pre-determined path that network information must travel to reach a specific host or network. To add or delete a route, work in the area under the Static Routing page (shown in figure 5-42).

To add static routing entries: 1. Click the Add New button. (pop-up figure 5-43) 2. Enter the following data:

Destination IP Address - The Destination IP Address is the address of the network or host that you want to assign to a static route.

Subnet Mask - The Subnet Mask determines which portion of an IP Address is the network portion, and which portion is the host portion.

Gateway - This is the IP Address of the gateway device that allows for contact between the router and the network or host.

3. Select Enabled or Disabled for this entry on the Status pull-down list.. 4. Click the Save button to save it.

5.10 DDNS

The router offers a Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) feature. DDNS lets you assign a fixed host and domain name to a dynamic Internet IP Address. It is useful when you are hosting your own website, FTP server, or other server behind the router. Before using this feature, you need to sign up for DDNS service providers such as www.dyndns.org, www.oray.net or www.comexe.cn. The Dynamic DNS client service provider will give you a password or key. To set up for DDNS, follow these instructions:

5.10.1Dyndns.org DDNS

If your selected dynamic DNS Service Provider is www.dyndns.org, the page will appear as shown in figure 5-44:

5.11 System Tools

There are eight submenus under the System Tools menu (shown in figure 5-47): Time, Firmware, Factory Defaults, Backup and Restore, Reboot, Password, Log and Statistics. Click any of them, and you will be able to configure the corresponding function. The detailed explanations for each submenu are provided below.

5.11.1 Time

You can set time manually or get GMT from the Internet for the router on this page (shown in figure 5-48):

Time Zone - Select your local time zone from this pull down list. Date - Enter your local date in MM/DD/YY into the right blanks. Time - Enter your local time in HH/MM/SS into the right blanks.

Time setting follows these steps below: 1. Select your local time zone. 2. Enter date and time in the right blanks 3. Click Save.

Click the Get GMT button to get GMT time from Internet if you have connected to Internet. If you’re using Daylight saving time, please follow the steps below.

1. Select using daylight saving time. 2. Enter daylight saving beginning time and end time in the right blanks. 3. Click Save.

Note: 1. This setting will be used for some time-based functions such as firewall. You

must specify your time zone once you login to the router successfully, if not, the time limited on these functions will not take effect.

2. The time will be lost if the router is turned off. 3. The router will obtain GMT automatically from Internet if it has already connected

to Internet.

5.11.2 Firmware

The page (shown in figure 5-49) allows you to upgrade the latest version firmware to keep your router up-to-date.

New firmware is posted at www.qubs.net and can be downloaded for free. If the router is not experiencing difficulties, there is no need to upgrade firmware, unless the new firmware supports a new feature you need. Note: When you upgrade the router's firmware, you will lose current configuration settings, so make sure you backup the router’s settings before you upgrade its firmware. To upgrade the router's firmware, follow these instructions: 1. Download the latest firmware upgrade file from the QUBS website

(www.qubs.net ). 2. Click Browse to view the folders and select the downloaded file. 3. Click the Upgrade button.

Firmware Version - Displays the current firmware version. Hardware Version - Displays the current hardware version. The hardware version of

the upgrade file must accord with the current hardware version. Note:

1. Do not turn off the router or press the Reset button while the firmware is

being upgraded. 2. The router will reboot after the Upgrading has been finished.

5.11.3 Factory Defaults

This page (shown in figure 5-50) allows you to restore the factory default settings for the router.

Click the Restore button to reset all configuration settings to their default values. • The default User Name: admin • The default Password: admin • The default IP Address: 192.168.1.1 • The default Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Note: Any settings you have saved will be lost when the default settings are restored.

5.11.4 Backup and Restore

This page (shown in figure 5-51) allows you to save current configuration of router as backup or restore the configuration file you saved before.

Click the Backup button to save all configuration settings as a backup file in your local computer.

To restore the router's configuration, follow these instructions:

• click the Browse button to slect the backup file which you want to restore. • Click the Restore button.

Note: The current configuration will be covered with the uploading configuration file. The restoration process lasts for 20 seconds and the router will restart automatically. Keep the router on during the restoring process, to prevent any damage.

5.11.5 Reboot

This page (shown in figure 5-52) allows you to reboot the router.

Click the Reboot button to reboot the router. Some settings of the router will take effect only after rebooting, which include:

• Change LAN IP Address. (System will reboot automatically) • MAC Clone (system will reboot automatically) • DHCP service function. • Static address assignment of DHCP server. • Web Service Port of the router. • Upgrade the firmware of the router (system will reboot automatically). • Restore the router's settings to factory default (system will reboot

automatically).

5.11.6 Password

This page (shown in figure 5-53) allows you to change the factory default user name and password of the router.

It is recommended strongly that you change the factory default user name and password of the router. All users who try to access the router's web-based utility or Quick Setup will be prompted for the router's user name and password. Note: The new user name and password must not exceed 14 characters in length and must not include any spaces. Enter the new Password twice to confirm it. Click the Save button when finished. Click the Clear All button to clear all.

5.11.7 Log

This page (shown in figure 5-54) allows you to query the logs of the router.

The router can keep logs of all traffic. You can query the logs to find what happened to the router. Click the Refresh button to refresh the logs. Click the Clear Log button to clear all the logs.

5.11.8 Statistics

The Statistics page (shown in figure 5-55) displays the network traffic of each PC in LAN, including total traffic and traffic of the last Packets Statistic interval seconds.

Current Statistics Status - Enable or Disable. The default value is disabled. To enable, click the Enable button. If disabled, the function of DoS protection in Security settings will be ineffective.

Packets Statistics Interval - The default value is 10. Select a value between 5 and 60 seconds in the pull-down list. The Packets Statistic interval indicates the time section of the packets statistic.

Appendix A: FAQ

1. How do I configure the router to access Internet by ADSL users?

1) First, configure the ADSL modem configured in RFC1483 bridge model. 2) Connect the Ethernet cable from your ADSL modem to the WAN port on the

router. The telephone cord plugs into the Line port of the ADSL modem. 3) Login to the router, click the “Network” menu on the left of your browser, and

click "WAN" submenu. On the WAN page, select “PPPoE” for WAN Connection Type. Type user name in the “User Name” field and password in the “Password” field, finish by clicking “Connect”.

4) If your ADSL lease is in “pay-according-time” mode, select “Connect on Demand” or “Connect Manually” for Internet connection mode. Type an appropriate number for “Max Idle Time” to avoid wasting paid time. Otherwise, you can select “Auto-connecting” for Internet connection mode.

1) Login to the router, click the “Network” menu on the left of your browser, and click "WAN" submenu. On the WAN page, select “Dynamic IP” for "WAN Connection Type", finish by clicking “Save”.

2) Some ISPs require that you register the MAC Address of your adapter, which is connected to your cable or DSL modem during installation. If your ISP requires MAC register, login to the router and click the "Network" menu link on the left of your browser, and then click "MAC Clone" submenu link. On the "MAC Clone" page, if your PC’s MAC address is proper MAC address, click the "Clone MAC Address" button and your PC’s MAC address will fill in the "WAN MAC Address" field. Or else, type the MAC Address into the "WAN MAC Address" field. The format for the MAC Address is XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX. Then click the "Save" button. It will take effect after rebooting.

3. I want to use Netmeeting, what do I need to do?

1) If you start Netmeeting as a sponsor, you don’t need to do anything with the router.

2) If you start as a responsor, you need configure Virtual Server or DMZ Host. 3) How to configure Virtual Server: Login to the router, click the “Forwarding” menu

on the left of your browser, and click "Virtual Servers" submenu. On the "Virtual Server" page, click Add New, then on the “Add or Modify a Virtual Server” page, enter “1720” into the blank behind the “Service Port”, and your IP address behind the IP Address, assuming 192.168.1.169 for an example, remember to “Enable” and “Save”.

On the "DMZ" page, click “Enable” radio and type your IP address into the “DMZ Host IP Address” field, using 192.168.1.169 as an example, remember to click the "Save” button.

4. I want to build a WEB Server on the LAN, what should I do?

1) Because the WEB Server port 80 will interfere with the WEB management port 80 on the router, you must change the WEB management port number to avoid interference.

2) To change the WEB management port number: Login to the router, click the “Security” menu on the left of your browser, and click "Remote Management" submenu. On the "Remote Management" page, type a port number except 80, such as 88, into the "Web Management Port" field. Click “Save” and reboot the router.

5. The wireless stations cannot connect to the router.

1) Make sure the "Wireless Router Radio" is enabled. 2) Make sure that the wireless stations' SSID accord with the router's SSID. 3) Make sure the wireless stations have right KEY for encryption when the router

is encrypted. 4) If the wireless connection is ready, but you can’t access the router, check the IP

Address of your wireless stations.

Appendix B: Configuring the PC

In this section, we’ll introduce how to install and configure the TCP/IP correctly in Windows 95/98. First make sure your Ethernet Adapter is working, refer to the adapter’s manual if needed.

1. Install TCP/IP component (If you use Windows 2000 or later, you can skip this step.)

1) On the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2) Double-click the Network icon, click on the Configuration tab in the appearing Network window.

3) Click on the Add button. Select Protocol, and then click Add.

4) Under Manufacturers on Select Network Protocol page, highlight Microsoft. Under Network Protocols, highlight TCP/IP. Click OK. TCP/IP protocol will take effect after reboot.

2x to 3x eXtended Range™ WLAN Transmission Technology - The WLAN device with 2x to 3x eXtended Range™ WLAN transmission technology make its sensitivity up to 105 dB, which gives users the ability to have robust, longer-range wireless connections. With this range-enhancing technology, a 2x to 3x eXtended Range™ based client and access point can maintain a connection at as much as three times the transmission distance of traditional 802.11b and 802.11g products, for a coverage area that is up to nine times greater. A traditional 802.11b and 802.11g product transmission distance is about 300m, a 2x to 3x eXtended Range™ based client and access point can maintain a connection transmission distance may be up to 830m.

802.11b - The 802.11b standard specifies a wireless networking at 11 Mbps using direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) technology and operating in the unlicensed radio spectrum at 2.4GHz, and WEP encryption for security. 802.11b networks are also referred to as Wi-Fi networks.

802.11g - specification for wireless networking at 54 Mbps using direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) technology, using OFDM modulation and operating in the unlicensed radio spectrum at 2.4GHz, and backward compatibility with IEEE 802.11b devices, and WEP encryption for security.

DDNS (Dynamic Domain Name System) - The capability of assigning a fixed host and domain name to a dynamic Internet IP Address.

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) - A protocol that automatically configure the TCP/IP parameters for the all the PCs that are connected to a DHCP server.

NAT (Network Address Translation) - NAT technology translates IP addresses of a local area network to a different IP address for the Internet.

PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) - PPPoE is a protocol for connecting remote hosts to the Internet over an always-on connection by simulating a dial-up connection.

SSID - A Service Set Identification is a thirty-two character (maximum) alphanumeric key identifying a wireless local area network. For the wireless devices in a network to communicate with each other, all devices must be configured with the same SSID. This is typically the configuration parameter for a wireless PC card. It corresponds to the ESSID in the wireless Access Point and to the wireless network name.

WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) - A data privacy mechanism based on a 64-bit or 128-bit or 152-bit shared key algorithm, as described in the IEEE 802.11 standard.

Wi-Fi - A trade name for the 802.11b wireless networking standard, given by the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA, see http://www.wi-fi.net), an industry standards group promoting interoperability among 802.11b devices.

WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) - A group of computers and associated devices communicate with each other wirelessly, which network serving users are limited in a local area.
