Catedrala Notre Dame du Sablon este cel mai frumos edificiu gotic al capitalei belgiene şi a fost înălţat peste o capelă a ghildei arbaletrierilor. Construcţia a fost amplificată în sec. 15-16. Toate breslele au dorit să deţină câte o capelă proprie şi un altar închinat sfântului patron respectiv. In 1697 a fost instalat amvonul . Lângă altar, în partea stângă, se află capela funerară a familiilor Tour şi Tassis, austrieci la origine, care în 1516 au înfiinţat Poşta Internaţională.

Enlarget in 1421 because it had become an important pilgrimage site, in 1550 it was a symbol of ogival architecture. In the late 19th century, with the church having fallen into disrepair, extensive restoration work was undertaken, giving it its present appearance: a stunning décor consisting of gables, small steeples and filigree stonework. It is one of the finest monuments in the flamboyant Gothic style in Belgium.
