1SpaInA handful of events in Spain fall on October 12.
This is when the Pilar Festival takes place in Zaragoza in honour of its patroness the Virgin of the Pilar. The celebrations with flowers and fruit and a horse parade would continue through the week. The feast is known for the procession of the giants and big heads. In the Medieval times, the parade used to march with only four figures symbolizing the four cardinal directions. Later the doll procession grew larger, much to the joy of the public.
October 12 is also the historic date when the first Spaniards led by Columbus arrived in America. In 1913, the day became a holiday for the whole Hispanic community. It was declared the Hispanic Day (the Da de la Hispanidad) in 1935 and has been celebrated in many Spanish-speaking countries.

5 Dance oF DeathThe magic charm of Dead Can Dance band is hard to
explain. Critics have described their style as neoclassical ethereal, a branch of dark wave with a light melancholy tone. Creating the unique unparalleled universe, the band draws inspiration from folk music. The mosaic compositions by Dead Can Dance carry fragments of polyrhythmic African music, echoes of Middle Eastern mantras, notes of Polynesian music and Arab songs.
The music of Dead Can Dance absorbs the rich global heritage, transferring it through ages and distances. Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry intertwine the half-forgotten cultural traditions of different countries combining them with their personal emotional impressions to present a unique musical fabric of dreams and visions.
